Cowboys cut Jay Ratliff

Ratliff

Jay Ratliff’s time with the Cowboys has come to an end.

Ratliff, a 2005 seventh-round draft pick who was selected to four Pro Bowls during his eight-year tenure with the Cowboys, has been released with a failed physical designation.

The 32-year-old Ratliff has not played at all this season after being placed on the physically unable to perform list with a sports hernia and a hamstring injury.

Michelle Tafoya of NBC reported on Sunday night that the Cowboys had decided to move on without Ratliff. That report prompted a denial from the Cowboys on Monday, but now it’s official: Ratliff is done in Dallas.

In 2011, Ratliff signed a five-year, $48.6 million contract extension. According to the Cowboys’ website, the majority of his $10.268 million cap charge will roll over into next year.
