Jay Cutler isn’t impressed by DeAngelo Hall

Getty Images

Three years ago, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler completed four passes to a player named Hall.  But his first name is DeAngelo, and he plays for the Redskins.

As the Bears and Redskins prepare to meet again for the first time since 2010, Cutler isn’t ready to heap praise on the man who picked Cutler off four times in one game.

Another player, you know?” Cutler said Thursday, via Tarik El-Bashier of  Asked if Cutler had any other thoughts on the rematch with Hall, Cutler was concise:  “Nope.”

Hall took no offense at the description.

“I am just another guy,” Hall said.  “It’s not me versus Jay.  It’s the Washington Redskins versus the Chicago Bears. . . .  What kind of answer do want him to say?  I don’t know what you want Jay to say, ‘Oh my god, I’m scared of this guy?’ I don’t know what you want him to say besides, hey, ‘He’s another guy.’  Whether he believes that in his heart or not, that’s what he had to say: ‘I’m another guy.’  He’s gone against some great corners in this league.  I’m not probably the best guy he’s ever gone against.”

Hall actually makes a lot of sense.  The Redskins will need him to make a lot of plays if they hope to climb out of their 1-4 hole.

Remember when Jay dissed the Packers and their secondary?

    Remember the results?

    11 of 27 for 126 yards with 4 interceptions.

He obviously hasn’t learned his lesson.

Perfect response from Hall to the muckraking media.

  3. teal379 says: Oct 17, 2013 6:36 PM

Let’s not forget his sub 30 Passer Rating for that game either.

DeAngelo Hall has really grown up a lot. Saying that Jay Cutler has probably gone against better corners is something I never would expect him to say. Old DeAngelo would have ripped him a new one and thrown that 4 pick game in his face.

McKayla Maroney is not impressed with either of them.

Does anything impress Cutler? That Bears team almost went to the SB that year.

Not a skins fan but stop hating Jay! Hall owned you that day.

    The feeling is mutual

1-5 coming up. that D isn’t stopping anyone.

People disrespect Hall a lot and sometimes he deserves it, other times he doesn’t but the man has been in the league for a long while so give him some respect at least for that.

Good response by him to the media.

The team that plays in Washington DC needs much more than Hall playing well to climb out of the 1-4 hole.

For starters, they need to sit RG III and get Kirk Cousins to start the rest of the games.
As long as RG III keeps acting like he has a bigger mouth than anyone in Congress he should be made to sit on the bench.

I love that neither of these guys took the media bait; the people always trying to get something controversial started.

Or as PFT calls it, “bread and butter”.

No one is impressed with Jay Cutler

    Cutler is a huge bust
    Denver knew this years ago
Re-build from the draft and cut the over rated QB…

  14. filthymcnasty1 says: Oct 17, 2013 7:22 PM

Is Jay supposed to keep track of every opposing player he’s ever thrown an INT to?

There are phone books with less names in it.

DeAngelo is showing wisdom that only comes with experience.

  16. dontcensormebro says: Oct 17, 2013 7:28 PM

Anybody who watched that game and remembers it knows all the picks weren’t on Jay. Also, Lovie Smith helped contribute with his idiotic use of the challenge flag. I am so glad that guy is out of Chicago.

I also remember Cutler lighting Hall up with pass after pass to Eddie Royal in Royals 2nd career game after the Raiders signed DeAngelo to a monster free agency contract. He was gone from Oakland before the year was out. Good times.

These were not completed passes. They were interceptions. They did not show as completed passes on stat sheets. They appear as attempts and interceptions in stats.

I like both players’ responses…Hall, especially, surprised me with the classiness of his answer.

  20. prosportswashington says: Oct 17, 2013 7:38 PM

Hall has been playing lights-out this year, and even better he hasn’t said a word! Hopefully both trends will continue

PS theres a jersey in canton with “Hall, 4 INT’s” written underneath courtesy of Jay Cutler

  21. metalhead65 says: Oct 17, 2013 7:58 PM

what has hall done since that game 4 years ago? things have changed since then. most importantly Cutler now has a coach qho knows what offense is and better weapons around him. hall seems to have changed to with his response which is also a good thing.

I believe this will translate into a bears loss.

Was Brandon Marshall with Chicago that year?? That game in Chicago was awesome. Donnie Mac threw a pick 6 that game. It was in my bday oct 24

What impresses Jay???? Obviously chicks on fake reality TV shows.

  25. dontbuttslapyourlawyer says: Oct 17, 2013 8:50 PM

Finally….that’s about the most sensible exchange between two players as I’ve heard in a while….well done to both guys

  26. rockinron2 says: Oct 17, 2013 8:51 PM

Cutler didn’t have any respect for Hall then and threw a bunch of 50/50 balls that he thought his receivers would win. The problem was his receivers were Devin Hester, Johnny Knox and Roy Williams. Not guys who would fight for the ball. I think this year Cutler has learned not to throw that jump ball, even with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Sunday is another test of his maturation.

Sensationalist media asks questions to Jay Cutler and DeAngelo Hall about each other

Both say the most non-sensationalist thing they could have possibly said.

Media has nothing to dramatize, so they simply report.

Why can’t it be like this all the time?

ssshhhh….bears fans wanna live in la-la land and pretend Jay Cutler is great.

just like cowboy fans and romo.

I think that was Marshall’s first year in Miami.

  30. earpaniac says: Oct 17, 2013 10:18 PM

I’m actually impressed with how both guys answered. It’s exactly what both of them should’ve said, especially since they were obviously leading questions.

  31. aceben3 says: Oct 18, 2013 3:50 AM

ok, but you’re missing the real story here. What have they done with the real Deangelo Hall, and who is this doppleganger?

  32. mfclock says: Oct 18, 2013 9:09 AM

Cutler and Eddie Royal roasted Hall and the Raiders in Royal’s first game. I think Ditka said “Royal has Hall spinning around like a yo-yo.” We’ll see the same this weekend with Marshall and Jeffrey.

  33. duce000 says: Oct 18, 2013 10:02 AM

Lol what was cutler suppose to say? Hall isn’t revis or Sherman or one of the top corners.. Biggest differences from 2010 till now? Brandon Marshall.. Alshon Jeffery.. Martellus Bennet.. Marc Trestman.. Let’s see if hall is able to do the same thing now that he did against Johnny Knox

  34. realitycheckbaby says: Oct 18, 2013 8:53 PM

Who Cutler should respect is Jenny Craig.

  35. dino2997 says: Oct 18, 2013 10:38 PM

Not much of a story with both players saying the right thing. What is more entertaining however is reading all the comments from the Cutler haters on here. You wish your QB wins games at the pace Cutler wins them.

  36. ziplock10 says: Oct 19, 2013 4:11 AM

So many things to laugh at here.

Cutler not worried about Hall. That worked last time J.J!!

Hall actually makes alot of sence…. Logicalvoices hack into PFT????

Cutler asked if he had any thoughts?, Nope!

As Forrest said when asked about his future, “Thought?” That’s right J Gump!!

Atleast Grossman had a little more personality…

Oh yeah! Grossman! Tell RGIII to SH-U!!!!

  37. ihaterogergoodell says: Oct 19, 2013 10:54 AM

Context is everything. All you guys saying Hall is more mature… Hall called Cutler a clown a week ago and started trash talking. So no, I don’t think Hall has shown maturity.
