Steelers announce Jarvis Jones has a concussion

Cincinnati Bengals' Sanu fights to break free from Pittsburgh Steelers' Jones during their NFL football game at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati Reuters

Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones missed practice on Wednesday with what the team described as a head injury.

They’re now describing it as a concussion. Steelers PR man Burt Lauten announced that Jones was diagnosed with a concussion by team doctors on Wednesday evening. Per Lauten, Jones first alerted doctors of symptoms on Monday and that he has been tested and treated since then without practicing.

Jones’ status for Sunday afternoon’s home game against the Ravens will be determined by how quickly he progresses through the league’s concussion protocol. That may not be too likely since it is already Thursday and Jones hasn’t been cleared by an independent neurologist to practice at this point. He would then need to be cleared again to play in the game.

If Jones doesn’t play, Jason Worilds will take over the starting job at outside linebacker across from LaMarr Woodley.

I don’t believe Jarvis Jones for one second. He is faking concussion symptoms so he doesn’t have to get destroyed by the Ravens O-Line. He is scared to death of us. Go Ravens!

Just an FYI the Bengals are in first place. Cant wait to see you put your money where your mouth is. I’m excited to see the 100 Million dollar arm of Jump-Ball-Joe in person.

Why? Flacco absolutely sucks this year. Check his stats.

What, no snide remarks about the Steelers waiting until Wednesday to let the world know that Jenkins has a concussion. I guess your favorite teams gets a pass, while your vendetta against the Pats continues unabated

Thats a trick question. Flacco sucks every year. I love how the Ravens overpaid him and how he sucks at passing so bad he throws the ball up and hopes his team catches it… Hence the Jump-Ball_joe reference

  7. joemammy says: Oct 17, 2013 2:18 PM

OK…it’s a tie. Both the Steelers and the Ravens suck.

And the Ben-gals were abused by Cleveland.

    GO BROWNS!

Were you at the game when Flacco hit Houshmanzadeh to end the game in 2010? How about the following year when Flacco ended the game with a pass to Torrey Smith? Neither was a jump ball. He didn’t have a great game last year in Pittsburgh but he won the superbowl so I guess we’ll let that one slide.

    1-4 dude. What’s your excuse?

This tells me you know absolutley nothing about football pittsburghfan71. You are putting your money on the Bengals, the stinking Bengals, I am sending a doctor to your house, you must be unstable to bet on the Bengals.

I’m glad in the past 4 years you could find 2 passes that he threw well. I do have to give you guys props on your first earned superbowl win. The one in 2000 doesn’t count because it was purchased from the Browns.

I guess we will see after sunday. The difference between 2-4 and 3-4 is only a half game.

Six weeks into the 2013 season, the Steelers finally get their first win and all of a sudden their fans start getting mouthy again. Keep talking about how bad Flacco is and I’ll keep waiting for your excuse as to why your team has one win this year, and hasn’t made the playoffs since Tebow knocked you out.

Those were two of many, they just happened to be game winning TD passes at Heinz. And there were exactly three 1995 Browns on the 2000 Ravens (Rob Burnett, Larry Webster and Matt Stover), so enough of that.

This is a Steeler post. As a Raven fan myself, I am always annoyed when Steeler fans try to take over Ravens’ posts and I can see why they would be annoyed that you goaded a deluded Pittsburgh fan into making this discussion about Joe Flacco.

We will see Sunday who prevails. That is why they play the games. That said, the Ravens are the Super Bowl Champions until somebody else wins one and I sincerely doubt that it will be the Steelers.

    Ben Roethlisberger = 6 TD – 5 int – 5 fumbles

ben just happened to have to sign when times were cheaper.if his contract was up last year he would have got paid to.You think that fantasy stats qb Romo is worth what he got……if you don’t have a qb your team is going to stink period.Flacco has done nothing but win,had to payfor winning.

  22. gameover78 says: Oct 17, 2013 4:26 PM

I’m still not sure where the jump ball Joe references came from, if you watch that pass to Kacoby…he didnt have to jump. Joe has won as many playoff games and superbowls as Peyton in a lot less years. Our defense sucked last year and we still won the superbowl. Haters keep on hating

  23. ravanator says: Oct 17, 2013 4:30 PM

In whining Steeler voice “Ravens will never win the Superbowl this year”
Then Ravens win Superbowl, Lewis retires

In whining Steeler voice “Oh yeah, you got Batch slapped last year”

Then Steelers start 1-4, Ravens start 3-3

In whining Steeler voice “Flacco throws jump balls and is overpaid”
This Sunday Ravens dominate the Steelers in a blowout victory for the good guys.

You are just another raven hypocrite who last week was whining about steeler fans on raven threads. You even went so far to tell them to stay off raven threads….I am not surprised it started with Ray and continues with trolls like you….sigh”

Back from the gallows known as his grandmother’s basement it’s ravanator… aka JMF. He can’t help it he fantasizes about playing hide the sausage with jump-ball Joe.

What will be the excuse when the Steelers, who admittedly have had a horrible start to the season, beat your sorry, overrated team? Will Murderer Lewis and Woman Beater Suggs invent conspiracy theories?

Remember, the difference between 2-4 and 3-4 is only 1/2 a game.

  27. joemontanaflaccid says: Oct 17, 2013 6:15 PM

dcap; the Steelers don’t look like a SB team, but neither did the Ravens last year, losing 4 of the last 5.

  28. taustinmiller says: Oct 17, 2013 6:36 PM

Everyone is too hard on ravanator. The highlight of his day is logging into Steeler threads and being a big, mean troll. You should feel sorry for this fella.

  29. Moudabo says: Oct 17, 2013 6:59 PM

Time for Worilds to step up and re-claim the spot that was meant to be his this year. He has played well of late. Jarvis needs time to get healthy and learn his role doing spot duty the rest of the year.

  30. steelcurtainn says: Oct 17, 2013 9:22 PM

Speaking of concussions, Floppo will have major headaches after the Steelers flatten his overrated butt this week. Expect the ketchup bottles in the down formation(red zone) for the Steelers most of the game.

  31. crownofthehelmet says: Oct 17, 2013 10:13 PM

Moudabo I agree with everything except the spot duty. When he’s healthy, he’s gotta play at least 1/2 the snaps. Too much potential for impact plays.
