Talib not likely to play on Sunday

Talib

Strike another key defensive player from the Patriots’ lineup on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Most likely.

Per a league source, cornerback Aqib Talib is unlikely to play due to a hip flexor strain suffered in Week Six against the Saints.

Talib has drawn rave reviews this year for his work against players like Julio Jones and Roddy White of the Falcons, and against Saints tight end (receiver) Jimmy Graham.

Talib has yet to practice this week. After the injury initially happened, it was not believed to be serious. But it looks like he’ll miss at least one week.

Also absent for the New England defense on Thursday was lineman Tommy Kelly (knee). Defensive backs Devin McCourty (shoulder) and Tavon Wilson (hamstring) were limited.

Defensive lineman Vince Wilfork (Achilles) and linebacker Jerod Mayo (pectoral) have been lost for the full season.
