Browns cut Bobby Rainey, promote Tori Gurley

The Browns appear ready to give Tori Gurley a chance to play one of his many former teams.

According to the league’s transaction wire, the Browns have promoted Gurley and cornerback Julian Posey from the practice squad, and waived running back Bobby Rainey.

Gurley has also spent time with the Vikings, Raiders, Buccaneers, Chargers and Ravens. The Packers initially signed him as an undrafted rookie from South Carolina in 2011.

The Browns hope he works out better than their last former Packers wideout, after they signed Charles Johnson off the Green Bay practice squad only to find out he had a torn ACL.

The Browns always find a way to make a big splash when it comes to their signings, cuts and promotions.

Oh OH. Tori Gurley? Former packer? Oh boy, expect him to go down with season ending injury.
Its a curse: Bishop, Zombo, Charles Johnson

I thought Tori Gurley rejected a roster spot offer by the vikings so he could remain on the practice squad of a much better team in 2011.

If the guy can’t play QB it doesn’t matter.

His career is maybe irreparably damaged bouncing around team to team like that.

What Tori needed was continuity, maybe two years on one practice squad, and then an opportunity.

I do with him good luck — only not this weekend against the Packers.

Tori will get to see a real QB again – on the other side of the field.
