Browns cut Bobby Rainey, promote Tori Gurley

The Browns appear ready to give Tori Gurley a chance to play one of his many former teams.

According to the league’s transaction wire, the Browns have promoted Gurley and cornerback Julian Posey from the practice squad, and waived running back Bobby Rainey.

Gurley has also spent time with the Vikings, Raiders, Buccaneers, Chargers and Ravens. The Packers initially signed him as an undrafted rookie from South Carolina in 2011.

The Browns hope he works out better than their last former Packers wideout, after they signed Charles Johnson off the Green Bay practice squad only to find out he had a torn ACL.
