Cowboys place Edgar Jones on injured reserve/designated for return

The Cowboys’ defensive line, beset by injuries since the summer, has lost another member for at least the next eight games.

Edgar Jones, a reserve defensive end and special teams player, was placed on injured reserve/designated for return on Friday, the club said.

Jones, who’s missed the last two games with an abdominal/groin injury, is eligible to return to game action on December 15 against Green Bay, the club said.

The Cowboys acquired Jones from Kansas City at the end of the preseason. He’s appeared in four games this season, notching five tackles.

“the Chiefs traded Edgar Jones to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a draft pick. Why make that trade? The compensation suggests the Chiefs were probably just going to cut him anyway. This way they get a pick out of it. Also, since Jones is a veteran, his salary is guaranteed if he’s on the Week 1 roster so veterans have to be on the look out over these next fe days.”

Sorry he can’t play, but I don’t think his absence will make a difference

Mostly brought in for special teams help but with Ware injured, could have helped provide depth there.
