The Vikings have re-signed cornerback Jacob Lacey, the club said Friday.

The 5-foot-180, 183-pound Lacey has notched 257 tackles and intercepted six passes in stints with Indianapolis (2009-2011) and Detroit (2012). Lacey spent part of this offseason with the Vikings but was released in August.

Vikings reserve cornerbacks A.J. Jefferson and Xavier Rhodes are both dealing with ankle injuries, with Jefferson missing practice Thursday.

To make room for Lacey, the Vikings officially placed Harrison Smith on injured reserve/designated to return.
