The Eagles declared reserve running back Chris Polk (shoulder) out of Sunday’s game vs. Dallas, the club said Saturday.

With Polk to miss the game, the Eagles have brought up Matthew Tucker from their practice squad, the club announced.

In a corresponding roster move, the Eagles waived rookie cornerback Jordan Poyer.

Tucker, 22, rushed for 89 yards on 25 carries in the preseason for Philadelphia. He could serve as the third-string tailback behind LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown on Sunday.

Wasnt Polk downgraded in the NFL draft due to a degenerative shoulder condition?

Poyer should NOT be on the wire. I’ d be surprised and pleased if he makes it to the practice squad or back on the roster soon.

Every time Matthew Tucker touches the ball he gives you a significant reason to give it to him again. He fearlessly hits the hole at 100MPH and is a tough guy to bring down, showing some nice speed as well. If he gets his chance through injury or late in a blowout game, I guarantee he flashes some serious ability. He’s going to make it VERY difficult for coaches to demote him again…Mark my words.

They should have cut Coleman or Casey Mathews.

Poyer was a productive college player but lacks NFL ability. It is a credit to him that he was able to play so well in college without those kinds of elite skills.
