Gronkowski’s status still to be determined

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has received clearance from his team of doctors to play on Sunday against the Jets.  But Gronkowski has yet to receive official clearance from his football team.

Per a league source, a final decision regarding whether Gronkowski will play on Sunday has not yet been made.  Officially, Gronkowski is listed as questionable to play.

A decision is expected to come in the morning.  The Patriots and Jets play at 1:00 p.m. ET; inactives will be released at roughly 11:30 a.m. ET.

So, basically, be ready to make a last-minute lineup change, if you’ve pulled Gronkowski off the bench for your fantasy team.

  1. It’s good gronk has taken his time, jpp had the exact same surgery within two weeks of gronk and he has been a shell of himself after he rushed to get back on the field for week 1.

Gronk already ruined my fantasy season so i’m good either way. The experts all said he’d be back weeks ago and advised wasting a high draft pick on him.

  3. His dumb agent saying he was “cleared” to play made this situation worse for Gronkowski. Why wouldn’t he just let the Patriots do their thing and issue info to the press when they feel they need to? Now if he doesn’t play he’s gonna get crapped on even more.

If you wasted a high pick on him then I think your fantasy season was ruined regardless…

  5. when hes healthy, hes one of the two best players at his position. If Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant were injured, you would get reports constantly. If All-Day, Shady, or Charles were injured, you would get reports constantly. When Manning was injured, ALL we heard about was Manning.

Its not because its the Pats. Its because hes a star and a beast when healthy

  6. This guy is a 25 yr old phenom with his whole career ahead of him, coming off a handful of surgeries. The Pats are winning without him so why rush him back? Let him get 100% and load up for a playoff run.

Gronk has been held out due to issues with the plate in his forearm. Not his back.

  8. The fact that Gronk traveled with the team means there’s a 99& chance he’s going to play. The Patriots never bring players for road games if they aren’t playing. Period. You won’t see Wilfork, Mayo, Talib, or Amendola on Sunday. You didn’t see Brady at all in 2008 either. It’s how the Patriots conduct business.

The Patriots have nothing to gain by saying a final decision has been made and he’s playing. They can keep their opponent guessing until the last minute by acting like they truly don’t know if he’s playing or not.

  9. Let’s see, 6 guys already out (Slater may have traveled but he will be out) and Belichick is gonna decide to make Gronk (who he wanted playing back in Week 3) the 7th and final inactive?

Hmmm but I guess with Belichick you never know.
