Bailey injures foot again, Colts take halftime lead

Broncos Camp Football AP

The Broncos have a few problems at the moment, but perhaps none bigger than an injury on an innocuous-looking play.

Cornerback Champ Bailey left the game in the second quarter, apparently aggravating the foot injury that cost him the first five games of the season.

The veteran corner didn’t return, and based on his reaction when he slammed his helmet to the field, he might not. He was being blocked by fullback Stanley Havili, and pulled up immediately.

Of course, the Broncos have some coming back to do of their own.

Ever since a sack-forced fumble by Robert Mathis was recovered for a safety, the Colts are rolling, up 26-14 at halftime.

Andrew Luck’s thrown three touchdowns, running stride-for-stride with the guy he replaced. Actually, Manning hasn’t looked right since taking the blind-side shot from his former teammate, so the advantage might lie with the new guy.

    If the Colts get any home playoff games, they will be a problem for anyone coming to Indy. It’s clear by now that they play better at home. Peyton choking as usual in a big game.

    Irsay’s not looking as crazy now (although he is), Luck is the real deal! Where are those folks who were saying Manning would have more titles if not for defense and bad o-line. Manning had a great oline for years and still blew it when it counted most. Football is a team game; if your special teams, defense and offense aren’t clicking and firing on all cylinders, you’re going to have issues and most likely lose. That and a ridiculously grave coaching fail helped my team lose today.

    I’ll be interested to hear what’s up with Manning in regards to the hit. Age, cold and no LT don’t bode well for one of the best “regular season quarterbacks” in the NFL.

    Yeah Manning had a bad game he only threw for 385 yards only had 3 TD’s and 1 interception for him that’s a bad game for every other QB in the league that would of been a Career night.

  18. polegojim says: Oct 21, 2013 12:46 PM

    @Mal… you’re IGNORING ALL the facts…

    Actually, he basically had 5 TDs… he was also responsible for gifting the Colts 16 points from bad play…

    I believe those points = the loss.

    How do those 385 yds feel now?

    Ok… so maybe not ALL Manning’s fault… but mostly… the O Line was out matched much of the game.
