The Bengals’ defense has suffered a major blow today in Detroit.

Cincinnati cornerback Leon Hall, the Bengals’ best defensive back, has suffered an Achilles injury. The Bengals have already declared him out for the rest of the game, and although we won’t know the full extent of the injury until Hall has an MRI, with an Achilles injury there’s a good chance that Hall is done for the season.

The injury took place on a fairly routine play: Hall was covering Calvin Johnson in the end zone, and both men leapt up for a high pass that went out of bounds. Hall landed awkwardly and immediately grabbed his ankle. Although he was able to walk off the field under his own power, he appeared to be fighting back tears and looked like a man who feared his season is over.
