Jermichael Finley leaves field via stretcher

Packers tight end Jermichael Finley was removed from the field on a stretcher after a shoulder-to-helmet collision in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against Cleveland.

According to Kevin Harlan of CBS, Finley has “feeling in all of his extremities.” Finley did appear to be moving his arms as he left the field.

According to the Packers, Finley has a neck injury.

Finley’s head collided with Browns safety Tashaun Gipson’s shoulder as the defensive back tackled Finley. Gipson was penalized on the play.

Finley suffered a concussion in the Packers’ Week Three loss to Cincinnati, an injury that prompted his five-year-old son to tell him to give up the game.

Finley scored the game’s first touchdown Sunday on a 10-yard first-quarter reception.

  1. Who’s more annoying logicalvoicesays, wearethesteelers or every Seahawks fan who is on this site?

  2. Not to downplay the injury, I hope he is ok. But that was a horrible call. Finley lowered the crown of his helmet, the hitter came in low and shoulder-first. With today’s rules, you obviously can’t go high- an everyone complains when you go too low, so that hit was literally EXACTLY where you’d want it.

  3. It was a shot to the head… but… in the guilty/penalized Cleveland player’s defense…. Finley dropped his head to give it as well as take the hit.

What was truly sad was CBS announcer kevin harlan making excuses and tiptoeing for the NFL.

  4. Finley dropped his head putting himself in a dangerous position. From this Packer fan perspective, I think the penalty should have been on Finley because it was the crown of his helmet hitting the helmet of the Brown.

  5. How scary is this after he just said last week that his son doesn’t want him to play football anymore. Hoping for a full recovery

  6. Indeed, it looked to be shoulder-to-helmet after slowing it down and seeing another replay. It’s fixed. Thanks for pointing it out. — Mike W.

  7. No players should taunted after being carted off. Messing around on here with other fans is fun, cheering an injury is cowardly. Shame on you steelers lover. Your an embarrassment to all fan bases. I hope this is not a serious injury.

  8. Steeler fans are not the smartest in the bunch, they just think they are. Boozers and losers pretty much.

  9. Really hope Finley is ok…but HE is the one who led with his helmet. And it REALLY looked like he fumbled the ball.

Helmet to shoulder is still a head shot/penalty.

Only against a defenseless receiver … which he was not…

  11. This whole game had some awful calls.

Every time we forced a 3 & out or 4 & out – “Offsides/Neutral Zone on number…uh? – the guy not near the line of scrimmage.”

This game went on 20-30 minutes longer than it should’ve.

Do you always have Seahawks on your mind, 24/7? Why else would you mention what is arguably one of the best fan bases without any reason?

    Jealous much?

  13. It WAS helmet to helmet. The crown of the defenders helmet smashed into the crown of Finley’s helmet. I watched the replay about 4 times. If you didn’t see it, you need to have your eyes checked.

  14. defender goes in for the clean hit, finley lowers his helmet into it for the extra 15

    got what he wanted

Kinda like the personal foul on Tramon William for tackling a guy he thought had caught the ball. Or maybe the facemask penalty on Hawk when Weeden ducked right into Hawk’s hands and all Hawk’s hand did was slide across Weeden’s helmet?

Was the call made correctly? Not according to what the official gave as an explanation for the call. Was the hit a cheap shot? I think so. Finley was almost on the ground when Gipson made the contact. He wanted to get a lick in there and will probably be fined for the hit.

  16. I know he got injured and that is tragic, but shouldn’t Finley have been the one getting the flag for the crown of the helmet/ramming thing they were hyping earlier this year?

  17. “It WAS helmet to helmet. The crown of the defenders helmet smashed into the crown of Finley’s helmet. I watched the replay about 4 times. If you didn’t see it, you need to have your eyes checked.”

The crown of Finley’s helmet hit the side of the defenders helmet and the shoulder pad of the defender hit the side of Finley’s helmet. He was not a defenseless receiver and I don’t think the defender should have been penalized.

  18. STEELERS DIE NEXT WEEK IN OAKLAND ! BOOK IT ! All the sicko nut jobs that hate the Packers loved it that poor Jermichael Finley was carted off the field . The same sickos all want Aaron Rodgers to get hit so hard and die on the field so that can get their rocks off and laugh at the Packers. what goes round comes round you pathetic losers.

You watched it 4 times and still didn’t see the defenders shoulder pad hit the helmet? You really should thing about checking your own eyes. That was a crap penalty call. I really hate seeing players penalized for ‘hitting too hard’.

  20. Not a fan of either team. Hope Finley is ok. Sure looked like he was leading with the helmet and the db was trying to avoid and unnecessary contact. Thought the penalty call was bad and hopefully that kid doesn’t get fined

Nope, sorry, you are both wrong. Get your eyes checked, boys.

  22. I am a viking fan here and I dont like seeing anyone carted off, its sad but he did lower his helmet for the hit while he was running that is what I saw.

  23. lol apparently they take your post down when you post a link to the video on NFL.com. The video there at the 1:44 to 2:00 minute marks show Finley’s helmet hitting the defender in the side of the helmet and the defenders head being snapped to the side.

Funny you should make that claim (one of the best fan bases) on the night that future HOF’er Peyton Manning made his return to Indy.

I remember when future HOF’er Brett Favre made his return to Lambeau.

The vast majority of fans in Indy cheered Peyton last night – in 2009 the vast majority of fans (if you want to call them that) booed Brett Favre.
