Jerry Jones: Romo is the best in the fourth quarter

If Jerry Jones could have one quarterback to run one drive to win a game in the fourth quarter, he’d want Tony Romo.

Jones was asked on his KRLD-FM radio show how he would feel about the Cowboys getting the ball with two minutes left and down by four, and Jones answered that he’d be confident they were going to win in that scenario because of Romo.

“I’m expecting to win it,” Jones said, via ESPNDallas.com. “I hadn’t booked it, but we had ‘em against Denver. And we’ve got a quarterback that’s the best in the business in the fourth quarter. He’s the best. He can make it happen when it’s not there. Other than being ahead with the ball, there’s no one I’d rather have at this time than to have Romo trying to get us down the field in a short period of time.”

Romo does, in fact, have the highest fourth-quarter passer rating in NFL regular-season history, so there’s some truth to what Jones is saying. The unfortunate thing about Romo’s career is that he has usually played well late in games, but the handful of major mistakes he has made in crunch time are what everyone remembers.
