Texans “very concerned” about Brian Cushing’s knee

Brian Cushing AP

The Texans lost linebacker Brian Cushing to a torn left ACL last season and they may have lost him again this year after another injury to the same knee.

Cushing was carted off the field after a low, legal block by Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles in the second half of Kansas City’s 17-16 victory. There’s no official diagnosis at this point, but there’s not much optimism around the Texans while they wait for word.

Coach Gary Kubiak said after the game, via the team, that the Texans are “very concerned” about Cushing. Jeff Darlington of NFL Network reports that owner Bob McNair said that the linebacker suffered a “serious” injury. He’s surely destined for an MRI that will provide more detail about the nature of the injury.

The Texans have a bye in Week Eight, but it doesn’t sound like that’s going to be enough time for Cushing to turn things around. If it is another torn ACL or something of similar severity, Cushing’s season will be over and his road back to full strength will be more difficult after two such injuries in such a short period of time.

Didn’t they just sign this dude to an 8 year contract? I guess there goes that!

2 Roid monkeys trying to kill a QB and is protected by the little guy. And the little guy is the one that ultimately gets picked on; for protecting his QB and doing his job.

He’s already the most quietly elite RB’s in NFL History, yet whenever he gets spotlight for a change its in the negative. Shameful.

Too bad all those roids didn’t strengthen his knee cartilage. I don’t root for injuries, but Cushing got where he got by roiding up.

Here is yet ANOTHER reminder of how dangerous each and every play in The NFL is , and how fleeting a career in this sport can be. It is also a warning about how crucially important it is to be prepared for life after football through a good education or some kind of job-related training, and solid, conservative plans for every paycheck earned during an extremely short career.

Legal cut block that led to a freak accident. Only way to keep that from happening is to ban that kind of block. Might as well play flag football if you do.

Maybe Cushing could open a car dealership in Houston now that his career is over.

Legal block. Too bad for Cushing. Sucks for him and the team. Get well soon.

Some of you are real classy, but I guess talking trash about people makes you feel important. Might want to take a look in the mirror and better yourself.

Just another nail in Kubiak’s coffin. Texans have everything going against them this year.
