Lance Briggs to miss 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury

Lance Briggs AP

The Bears will be without one of their key defensive players for an extended stretch.

Linebacker Lance Briggs will miss 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury suffered in Sunday’s loss at Washington, a league source tells PFT.

The injury will not require surgery.

Briggs, 32, has recorded 64 tackles and two sacks for Chicago this season. He has not missed a regular-season game since 2010.

The Bears (4-3) have their bye this week.

Injuries have seriously derailed a very promising season for the Bears.

When it rains, it pours. It’s rough, Chicago finally has an offense that can compete with any team. And now, our once dominating defense is in shambles. As a die hard fan, it’s tough to see.

Old, slow and hurt is no way to go through life son. (this applies to 3/4 of the Bears’ defense).

    Time to rebuild the defense.

You could say the same in several cities. Big names are dropping all over the place.

Best of luck to Briggs, Cutler, and Tillman.

Hate to see this many injuries, but it’s part of the game.

Preliminary word is Cutler will be out at least 6 weeks-at least.

I hope Conte get’s his game together-or he gets benched.

The bears defense wasn’t that great this year when everyone was healthy. Peppers isn’t the same player right now, and that more than the injuries to Briggs, Melton, Collins, and Williams have derailed this defense. The fact that Peanut probably won’t be close to 100% healthy all year certainly won’t help either.

Geez, at some point you just lose too many people. We may have hit the tipping point after that Skins game. Very disappointing, but like who we have in charge and actually trust them.

Wondering if anyone has any stats on how many guys are missing games/getting placed on IR compared to a typical season. It seems like every team is getting hit with waves of injuries.

The Packers should provide the inspirational gold standard blueprint for overcoming injuries and adversity. Unfortunately for Bear fans the team is too inept to overcome even minor obstacles.
