Ravens blew more than $2 million on McKinnie

McKinnie

Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome, who probably would make it to the Hall of Fame as an executive if he wasn’t already there as a player, has earned the benefit of making a mistake or two.

In re-signing left tackle Bryant McKinnie, Newsome and the Ravens gave McKinnie a $2 million signing bonus.

McKinnie also received more than $411,000 in game checks, and he was eligible for a $200,000 workout bonus and a $6,250 per-game weight bonus.

The Ravens had two years with McKinnie; it should come as no surprise that he’s a bit of a handful, or more. But since six-foot, eight-inch guys with a playing weight of 360 pounds don’t grow on trees (and trees everywhere are thankful for that), the Ravens had to roll the dice.

They did. And it came up craps.
