Colts fill Reggie Wayne’s roster spot with Jalil Brown

The Colts won’t be able to fill Reggie Wayne’s shoes, but they filled his roster spot today.

The team announced they had put the veteran wide receiver on injured reserve after he tore his ACL Sunday night. To replace him on the 53-man roster, they signed cornerback Jalil Brown.

They kept 10 defensive backs active Sunday night to defend Peyton Manning and the Broncos (it worked), but suffered a number of injuries during the game that left them depleted.

Brown was in camp with the Chiefs this summer. Originally a fourth-round pick from Colorado, he started two games for the Chiefs the previous two seasons.

  1. Given that Jalil is just one letter off from jail … can someone explain why he’s not playing for the Bengals ?

  2. If ANYONE could convince him to turn around and look for the ball, he could be a decent DB.

Some people just don’t get it, and Jalil is one of those guys.

He’ll be a good gunner for you though, so there’s that.

  3. You can never replace Reggie Wayne, that was too bad for him. The Colts will be in trouble without him.

In about a year and a half the Pagano and his staff turned Vontae Davis into a shutdown corner with very good attitude and maturity. In even less than that they turned Darius Butler, a bust with the Patriots, into one of the best nickle DBs in the league.

Pagano is a miracle worker when it comes to the secondary.

  5. Brown was pretty good in KC I thought…and that’s why I’m not a football coach.

He is a shutdown corner…on the 2017 Chiefs in my Madden franchise.
