Doug Martin still hasn’t practiced

Perhaps the worst week of prime-time games in league history, which started with the 1-4 Vikings facing the 0-6 Giants and concludes next Monday with the Kellen Clemens show in St. Louis (and includes technically a prime-time local game in London featuring the 0-7 Shaguars), features a Thursday night affair featuring the winless Buccaneers.

But thanks to fantasy football, there’s interest in at least one Tampa Bay player.  Running back Doug Martin has a shoulder injury, and he has yet to practice this week.

The Bucs have been tight lipped about Martin’s availability.  On Tuesday, coach Greg Schiano would say only that Martin is “day-to-day” and “getting treatment.”

Offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan acknowledged that, if Martin can’t go, Mike James and Brian Leonard will carry the load.

Of course, the running game could quickly become irrelevant if the Panthers pounce on the Buccaneers early, forcing us all to find something else to watch.

Assuming that anyone dials up the game in the first place.

Just sit him for the rest of the year. You have absolutely nothing to gain by running him ragged on one arm at 0-6. They’re gonna run him until he breaks like they did Cadillac.

Trade him to the Giants so that they can be sure to stay behind you in the draft. They are planning to run the table so they might perceive their draft pick price to be smaller than it appears in your rear view. Or find some other team to make other deals with, but don’t just stand there and do nothing or before you know it you’ll be asking yourself why you haven’t won many games at all during this decade. The time is now to avoid losing tomorrow.

Doug Martin hasn’t practiced this week and Schiano has not coached all year. Fire this bum already!

They may be winless, but the Bucs are not boring. They’ve had their chances in every game, and have played spurts of good football. However, they seem to find ways to lose, as do many young teams.

Initial reports were that he was done for the year. Now there is some hope he may play many weeks from now. Of course he hasn’t practiced. He won’t practice for at least a month.

6ball that’s a sign of a bad coach. Worst and dirtiest coach we’ve seen in the NFL in years.

How many guys with torn labrums are practicing on a Tuesday?

  11. tinbender2000 says: Oct 22, 2013 8:21 PM

Greg Schiano would say only that Martin is “day-to-day” and “getting MSRA.”

If another player gets MRSA aka torn labrum, the Bucs season might be over…officially.

    vprkilr:

I suggested to trade a RB or any other player, why are you so convinced there is no potential for improving their future outlook by making some kind of trade? What is Doug Martin going to do for you if you are the Tampa GM? Are you going to win in 2014 with him, if so, what’s your plan for that year at all positions such that you have no moves to make today?

Your disapproval of my idea to simply be open minded to see what might be available for players that might not be in their long-term plans just doesn’t make any sense to me. I stand by thinking it’s a great idea to investigate trades, and I think the biggest problem is how long they have waited thus far. They should have made trades before the season started, and other trades that can be traced to much longer ago than that.

But here they are standing pat again, but for what reason? They still are completely confused as to whether any of these 53 guys should be here in the future? Wow they sure take their time to make evaluations! They never decided anything until players just naturally rot away. Great plan there.

It’s unbelievable how someone as incompetent as Schiano has managed to even make it to the NFL, let alone not get fired yet this season.

  21. bucnblood says: Oct 22, 2013 10:14 PM

Yeah steelersare I have noticed how there isn’t any winning football going on in Pittsburgh. Take your six rings and losing record and shut it.

I agree with you on the Martin issue. No sense in risking it. With Cadillac it was a freak injury on a dirty horsecollar play by the Panthers defender. I don’t think he was over-worked.

For whatever it’s worth, I had a torn labrum that required arthroscopic surgery back in January. My doctor ordered me to be in a sling for six weeks and to not throw for five months.

And I doubt my injury was half as bad as his…

No mention that the Bucs added another RB this week?

Dougie is not playing Thursday, if he does the trainer and HC should be fired (well, I guess they should be fired either way)
