Report: Michael Vick will start this week

AP

Eagles coach Chip Kelly offfered no hints about the identity of this week’s starting quarterback beyond announcing that Nick Foles has a concussion that makes him an unlikely choice to return to the lineup against the Giants.

Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that there’s going to be another announcement concerning an injured Eagles quarterback on Tuesday. Bowen reports that Michael Vick is expected to announce that his left hamstring has healed enough for him to return to action in Week Eight. Vick has missed the last two games after getting hurt in the first matchup of the year with the Giants.

If Vick’s healthy enough to play, it’s a good bet that he’ll be starting over Matt Barkley. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that will be the case, although it’s unclear if that announcement will come today or wait until later in the week.

The Eagles are 2-3 in games started by Vick this season and the quarterback has completed 53.8 percent of his passes so far this season.

ho hum numbers… why not see what bark can do with some prep time? We’re going no where this season anyway!!
I say tank and get good draft picks… need to use ALL draft picks fro DEF!!!!!! I think everyone knows that!

  2. Thank god don’t want to see foles know more. Vick stay healthy and we can make a run at this NFC East title.

  3. Who cares? Teams like the Eagles need to look at the big picture and realize that they will never win a Super Bowl with Vick or Foles. Only consistent Qb’s win Super Bowls. Not guys who get hurt every other game or complete 65% one game and 48% the next two.

Wait, what!!!!!!! Hasn’t Vick been in this league longer and has been doing his thing before RG III was in college.

  5. Marcus was right. People get mad when they get slapped with the truth they don’t like. Vick is the only NFL QB on the team and I have seen enough of Nick Foles under pressure and pick a minute Matt Barkley.

  6. In a related story, Kelly called his former recruit Marcus Mariota and said “Play yourself down to the middle of the first round. I promise, I’ll make it worth your while”.

  7. The Eagles have three QB’s that would have to work hard to be second string on any other NFCE team.

    Romo
    Orton
    Manning
    Painter
    RG3
    Cousins

    Yep.

  8. Nick Foles concussion was his own fault because he just stood there like a deer caught in the headlights and refused to get rid of the football.

As Judge Judy once said, beauty fades, but stupid is forever.

In terms of being a runner RG3 can’t hold Vicks jock.

Just as in terms of being a QB, Vick cannot carry McNabbs jock.

    what about his hamstring?

    What about RGKnee???

  11. Glad Vick is playing instead of Barkley. Barkley would have thrown for 350+ and 4tds on us.

On the flip side, that performance would have rekindled Eagles’ fans false hope of running the table and winning the SB which is always fun to watch come December when they crash and burn as usual.

  12. I saw games by Vick and Foles. I’ve also seen games when Barkley played. It’s Vick’s offense and Vick’s team.

Reason why is because when Vick played and lost, Vick himself and the offense played well. It was the defense who couldn’t stop anyone. Remember, Vick posted up over 400 yards in a loss! The problem with the Eagles wasn’t the offense.

When Foles played against the Bucs, the ball moved, but the defense played better. It was a good win against a winless team. But when the Eagles played a contender, it wasn’t just the defense that was bad. The offense looked bad and Foles was terrible. That’s the same with Barkley.

So with Vick, the offense isn’t a problem. Without Vick, the offense is a problem. So it’s very simple.

  13. …..and as time runs out its the Raiders who will move to 3 -4 while the Eagles behind a hobbling Michael Vick fall to 3- 5…… More after this.

And still have a more promising future.

  15. If Vick is healthy he should start over Barkley, but I really want to see more of Foles. You can’t judge him this year on the 9 quarters of football that he has played, even if all you genius GMs out there have already written his NFL obit. I want to know if we need to draft a QB this year because we clearly need more talent on defense that we have now. I still haven’t figured out why they brought Vick back this year…

They brought Vick back because people pay to be entertained. Follow the money people. Can’t wait to see haters faces once Vick is resigned for 2 more years lol.

The giants actually don’t have a promising future at all. Actually it’s the complete opposite
