Jimmy Graham doesn’t practice Wednesday

The Saints were optimistic heading into the bye that tight end Jimmy Graham’s ankle would be healed in time for him to play in Week Eight against the Bills, but Wednesday’s practice went off without Graham on the field.

Graham was held out of practice and coach Sean Payton said on a conference call with Buffalo reporters that the team is going to evaluate things on a daily basis for the rest of the week.

“Each day we’ll just take a peek on how he’s progressing and be smart about it,” Payton said, via Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News.

Graham’s an important enough piece of the offense that the team probably won’t risk him if they think there’s too great a risk of aggravating the injury at this point in Graham’s recovery. He’s also an important enough piece that he could probably miss practice all week and still play if his ankle is feeling well enough.

Either way, we’re not likely to have definitive word on Graham’s status until Friday at the earliest.

Are you sure it is the ankle? The photo would indicate there being something wrong with his shoulder instead…

I still can’t believe the Dolphins passed on Graham in the draft for some crab.

Saints can win without Graham. Get Lance Moore back alone with Kenny Stills, Colston, Watson, Toon, Meachum ,Sproles thomas , and many others . NOW…..our O line better wake up because Mario Williams…..will indeed make it harder then we had it all season. I hope Charles Brown is healthy because after this game he will be feeling the effects when Mario Williams gets to brees about atleast two times ….Yikes … WHO DAT !!!!

That’s a great pic. Graham is half man, half dragon.

Oh… so you can’t hit a player in the head who has a helmet on, but it’s ok to breathe fire on the field? C’mon, Goodell.

The Bills game will be nothing more than a small scrimmage to the Saints. They should rest Jimmy for the Bills and Jets games. Because after those two scrimmage games we play two real teams; the Cowboys and the 40 whiners. We’ll definitely need Jimmy for those two games. Then we can rest Jimmy again when we play the scrub Falcons. Ha Ha. Then we’ll need Jimmy back to play the Shehawks in Seattle. Then Jimmy can rest for four more scrimmage games against the scrub Panthers (twice), the Lambs and the Yucks to close out the regular season. Ha ha. Then Jimmy will be well rested to Host our 2 playoff games @ home in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Then the Saints will have a two week break before they play the Broncos in the Super Bowl in Met Life Stadium! Ha Ha. Ain’t it cool being a Saints fan? Ha Ha. Geaux Saints!

Get well soon, the team needs you at full strength. Agree with a previous poster, the Bills are not a pushover. Mario Williams is a beast.

Saints could be best team this year if their coach lets them play their game with a lead even in the last three minutes. That brain freeze he showed against New England won’t win any championships.

    The Saints.

They can still win without Graham but it’s nice to have him on the field.
I had a bad feeling about that New England game and I have a bad feeling about this Bills game.
Not that it means anything, the NE game was there for the taking but the ball and the calls simply didn’t bounce their way.
They can still win without lady luck but it’s nice to have her on your team.
