Raiders claim Martez Wilson off waivers

Martez Wilson

The Saints decided that linebacker/defensive end Martez Wilson wasn’t a good fit for the defense that Rob Ryan is running in New Orleans, but one of Ryan’s former employers has decided to see what Wilson has to offer them.

The Raiders, who had Ryan on their staff from 2004 to 2008, announced Wednesday that they have claimed Wilson off of waivers. They released defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi to make room on the roster.

If nothing else, Wilson should find a spot on the Raiders’ special teams units after thriving there in New Orleans. If he can contribute as an edge player on defense, all the better, and Wilson is just a couple of years removed from being a third-round pick in New Orleans.

Bilukidi, a sixth-round pick in 2012, has played in five games this season and recorded five tackles.

Love this move. Especially if he played DE. Which I think he will. With them cutting a DT. I see sanford playing more DT with Wilson as pass rushing End.

This guy had an A potential in Madden 12, if Maddens any indication of real life he’s gonna be a beast… haha I really do hope he’s good though The Raiders need all the help they can get in the front seven. Where has Miles Burris been?

With the release of Bilukidi, Oakland’s 2012 draft class is looking like bust.

Surprised he wasn’t more successful. Bad system fit? Could be a real nice addition for Oakland.

The Raiders D is going to eat up Ben all day! Ben 1-4 against the Raiders even his back up out dueled him in Oakland.

grasping at straws trying to find an answer for the steelers. I don’t blame you, but it’ll be futile.

A bust of a draft is kinda to be expected when your first pick doesn’t come until the end of the 3rd round.

Yeah, and a comp pick at that. To me, that makes the picks they had even more important. Stupar and Bilukidi cut, Bergstrom and Burris not healthy, and Criner can’t get on the field. Streater and Nix were good FA signings, but on a team with little depth, it sucks to see recent draft picks get cut.
