Report: Jay Ratliff exploring a 2013 return

Defensive tackle Jay Ratliff’s season may not be over after all.

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Ratliff is in Philadelphia to be evaluated by Dr. William Myers to see if he can try out for teams interested in signing him this season. Per Werder, six teams have contacted Ratliff about a possible return and Ratliff believes others will be interested if Myers gives him a clean bill of health.

It’s a surprising turn of events because Ratliff’s agent Mark Slough said at the time of his release that the injury Ratliff suffered last December was serious enough that the Cowboys knew he might miss close to a year before he’d be able to return. Slough also said that Ratliff intended to play in 2014, suggesting that a return this year was not in the cards.

And it might not be, but the interest of other teams is reportedly enough to have him get another opinion before deciding for sure.

All he will do for you is attack your owner and get a DUI while rehabbing something that no one ever knew was wrong.

Not sure why the Eagles are tagged for this article, but if it’s as a potential landing spot: No thanks.

He could be a Saint if healthy. Ratliff played for Rob Ryan in Dallas.

Slacker. He’d be perfect for the Giants.

Truly amazing signs a big contract in Dallas all of a sudden can’t play do to injuries. Now he is out of a job and he is healed. Good luck who ever signs him. I’m sure he will hurt his big toe in week two. Miles Austin take notice you should be released next!!!! Big contracts and no production.

Rex Ryan was flirting with a tampering charge for wanting this guy a few years ago.

He would be better suited for the Bears or Patriots.

Giants have a bunch of bodies, but no one is really playing well amongst them other than Joseph and Rogers. Ratliff would not be any real addition. They need to play Hankins, not pick up some guy who is better as a two-gap blocker and not a straight up 4-3 DT.

Other than Ryan in New Orleans, who would be that crazy?

Ratliff just didn’t want to play in Dallas for Jerry but now that he was cut, that leg is feelin’ much better.

Good luck. A mess on and off the field.

If he signs with another team this year and is miraculously able to play I hope Jerry Jones sues him for the money that was paid to him
