Wide receiver Mike Williams is questionable for the Buccaneers because of a hamstring injury and the Buccaneers made a roster move Thursday afternoon to protect themselves in the event he can’t play.
Shortly before they are due to hand in the inactive players for Thursday night’s game with the Panthers, the Bucs announced that they have promoted wide receiver Skye Dawson from the practice squad. Dawson was on the active roster last week as well, released to make room for the arrival of running back Bobby Rainey and re-signed to the practice squad this week.
If Williams doesn’t play, it will be another blow to an offense that’s already operating without running back Doug Martin and guard Carl Nicks. Williams missed Week Five with the hamstring issue, but returned to catch four passes in last week’s loss to the Falcons.
The Bucs cut defensive end Trevor Scott to make room for Dawson on the 53-man roster.
