Jermichael Finley released from hospital

Jermichael Finley AP

While it’s far from being cleared for any kind of football activity, there was good news for Jermichael Finley today.

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Finley has been released from the hospital and has returned to his home in Green Bay, after suffering a spinal contusion Sunday.

Finley has already been ruled out for this week’s game, and there’s no official word on his status for the season, though there have been reports he could need surgery.

But after being strapped to a gurney and immobilized earlier this week, this is a promising sign for his recovery, whether that involves football or not.

Gotta think that he is leaning towards injured reserve at the very least. Kind of eery that an article was written not too long ago about his kids wanting him to retire…and then this happens? It would be reckless to not take a step back and think about his next move.

Wish him the best. As a Packers fan I’d hate to see him retire but his long-term health and family come first. Call Fredskin Davis?

So, if he makes a full recovery and is no more likely to suffer another neck/spine injury than any other random NFL player, he should retire?

Why don’t we let this thing play out for at least a few weeks before everyone decides what is best for him and his family?

Actually, it’s the human body that’s pretty amazing. I don’t believe the doctors did much other than run tests on Finley. The human body’s ability to heal itself is nothing short of miraculous.

That being said, I hope the best for Finley; that he makes a full recovery and that he will have the option to choose whether to play again, rather than a forced retirement.

I know of a Vikings RB who let his son be brutally murdered. Nice try, though.

Great news…And while the choice of retiring is up to him, I just hope he enjoys a full life with his family moving forward.
