Tom Brady pops up on the injury report

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady warms up on the field before facing the New York Jets in their NFL AFC East football game in Foxborough, Massachusetts Reuters

There was a time when Tom Brady showing up on the Patriots injury report was as unremarkable as brushing your teeth, but he hadn’t made an appearance there since Week 16 of last season until Thursday.

That’s when Brady was listed as limited with a right shoulder injury by the Patriots. That’s his throwing shoulder, an area of the body where an injury would be a major concern if the Patriots plan on winning with regularity this season. Thankfully for the Patriots, there’s absolutely no reason to believe that a guy who has started 71 straight games is doing anything more than getting a little rest near the midpoint of the season unless there’s something more than an abbreviated Thursday practice as evidence.

Especially when the Patriots had a large group of limited players on Thursday, only some of whom are in much doubt of facing the Dolphins. The most prominent of those in doubt are wide receiver Danny Amendola and cornerback Aqib Talib, both of whom participated in practice for the second straight day. If Amendola is cleared by an independent neurologist for Sunday’s game, the Patriots could have him in the lineup for the third time this season.

Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly and running back Leon Washington remain out for New England.

What other proof do you need that this guy is so over rated it’s not even funny?

  4. fatsolio says: Oct 24, 2013 5:54 PM

Cool so if he has yet another mediocre game this will be the reason. There’s always got to be an excuse form the media and Pats fans whenever Tommy stinks up the joint. It can’t ever be that the guy has a bad game or is in a slump. Nope, always some other reason.

  5. assuredmutualdestruction says: Oct 24, 2013 5:55 PM

Don’t hit anyone too hard though, or the NFL will fine you for doing the one thing that lines their pockets.

  6. rebel21das says: Oct 24, 2013 5:57 PM

The Pats need Talib back before Amendola, hopefully they’ll sit Danny this weekend and have Gronk continue to try to return to form and proceed to let the young wide receivers hack it out another week.

Haven’t you ever heard that stats are for losers to quote Bill Belichick. Plus he has plenty of stats single season touchdown record 50. His career postseason record is 17–7. His playoff win total is the highest in NFL history. He also helped set the record for the longest consecutive win streak in NFL history with 21 straight wins over two seasons (2003–04), and in 2007 he led the Patriots to the first undefeated regular season since the institution of the 16-game schedule. Brady has the third highest career passer rating of all time (96.6) among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 career passing attempts. In 2012, Brady became the first quarterback in NFL history to lead his team to 10 division titles.

How do you like them apples kid…….

As soon as you said “If Amendola is cleared by an independent neurologist for Sunday’s game, the Patriots could have him in the lineup for the…” he bumped into the door reading that update on his iPhone and is now out 4-8 weeks.

  10. justintuckrule says: Oct 24, 2013 6:08 PM

@forsbergler – so what you’re saying is that over 25% of his playoff losses have come to the G-Men?

  11. surfinbird1 says: Oct 24, 2013 6:08 PM

I love them apples, excpecially the ones that were thrown at Tom Brady last week after another stinker of a performance. What happened to the Pats getting better with more reps and time and getting gronk back? They’re only getting worse.

Tom Brady = Avg at best post spygate.

    Gimmie some stats post Spygate!

I’ll give you a few 0-2 in superbowls not to mention TB played horrible in both games only putting up 17 and 24 points respectivly, not to mention the biggest choke job in history going 18-1

    5-5 in post season

TB is a joke and is going to have a hard time throwing for 3500 yds this year which is pathetic for a QB of his apperent talent level.

  15. mattwalshvideo says: Oct 24, 2013 6:21 PM

Tom: Bill I just don’t have it this year, it’s really tough without the spygate cameras and on top of that we lost that excellent TE/double murderer to prison.

Bill: Ok I’ll do you solid and blame it on an injury.

  16. rebel21das says: Oct 24, 2013 6:23 PM

So what they lost I’ll stick with my Pats like I did before Brady like I will after he retires and to repond further to your opinion as you say “the biggest choke job in history 18-1″ you probably are too young to remember the Bill’s losing 4 straight Super Bowls now that’s the bigger choke job but you probably didn’t know about that seeing how you just started watching football right? hahahaha

I am far from a Ton Brady fan, but he has earned my respect. Yeah he is not having a good year but Peyton has only had 1 good year in his whole damn career. Tom Brady is more clutch in crucial moments, and hence the better QB. If you need more proof than that you should try soccer or baseball.

Your current QB has a .450 win percentage in the playoffs. Don’t get your hopes up to high.

Maybe you should get Trent Dilfer out of retirement. His playoff percentage is .833. Highest ever.

Since the Jets game in 2007 the Patriots have a record of 80-24 (regular season and playoffs), best in the NFL by about 20 lengths. They have won five division titles in six years, four AFC title game appearances and two trips to the Super Bowl. Seventeen teams in NFL history have scored more than 500 points in a season and four of those seasons have come from the Patriots since 2007.

Spygate preachers on here should know-
The ‘karma’ from spygate was this:

After a helmet catch in 2008, Brady went down the first game of 2008, against the easiest schedule the team had seen in 5 years, and easily another 16-0 season.
Consider in 2007 they went against the hardest schedule, 6 prime times and 16-0. That year playing against the AFC west, raiders and steelers, which is why they went 11-5. AFC would have been dominated completely again, with even more records broken,
    THAT was the patriots karma.

Just another angry fan who doesnt know what hes talking about and thrives on the short commngs of other teams that have dominated his for over a decade. You know what? MattWalsch you normally are just an annoying troll, but today you have crowned yourself. The biggest hat on the Internet. How dare you.

Brady has led a team of nobody’s to do something no organization has done.

Brady stood up there week 4 after the first loss and said “nobody’s coming to save us, just have to get better” – and is grinding out victories, developing a new offense with kids that need name tags, and not whining about it at all. He’s taken a fresh team to a 5-2 record. Both losses of which came at the last minute, granted they have a win that way as well – but for your to sit there and call him weak or that he’s faking an. Injury, you have lost your credibility(?) as an nfl fan entirely.
Patriots can or not, its incredible to see what he’s doing with a brand new team, perfecting them, working with what he has, and working his ass of. It’s more impressive than most AFC qbs who didn’t lose their teams in offseason.
You could never apply anywhere near close the discipline or hardwork to anything in your life, even a username is too much to ask from you

    5-2 How’s that rate?

The Patriots haven’t had a good deep game in years, that’s no secret. At Tom’s age that probably won’t improve. I can live with it.

I think very soon we’ll be talking about Luck as “the best” as the Manning / Brady era heads into twilight.

Things change. One year the Pats may even have less than 10 wins. Maybe.

LMFAO at the pathetic group of Pats haters on this site.

Especially logicalvoicessays masquerading as spygatedontexist. Somehow you seem to think ignoring your own coach’s 20 year record of salary cap cheating means it doesn’t exist, when actually every time you call the Pats cheaters you call your own R-word team the same thing.

Mainly however, all you guys do is show either how little you actually know about the game, or how your blind hatred of Brady reduces that knowledge to “I hate Tom Brady so he must be a terrible player”.

The really tasty part other than that the tears of Pats haters are just sweet sweet nectar to Pats fans, is that for the rest of your lives whenever the media or most people mention Brady it will be to say how great he was and that he’s one of the best if not the best QB to ever play the game.

That’s going to be rubbed into your Patriot hating brains forever, because no matter how hard you stomp and scream like 5 year olds having a tantrum that he’s a bad player, no matter how many thousands of times you go into threads and post that he, Belichick and the Pats suck, that you will never ever be successful in proving your point.

    Lolz

  38. bullcharger says: Oct 24, 2013 8:34 PM

The Patriots are 5-2 and they are doing fine. They have never won a Super Bowl in a year they went 6-0 in the division. Losing a division road game is normal… Especially a close one. Adversity now is what makes teams do well in the playoffs. Who cares what Brady looks like or how he compares to Manning this year. All that matters is wins and winning the AFC East and they are still in the best position in the division to do it.

If the Patriots can win the next two, which are both winnable they’ll be 7-2 at the bye and on schedule for another good season.

Patriots fans stop worrying about Brady’s numbers and just enjoy the fact we still have him and therefore a chance to win any game.

Not me, I’d rather my team go 2-14 and get a good draft pick then watch my team go all the way to the SB and lose and get nothing but a 31st pick to show for it.
