Football players rarely run 100 yards during a game. When they do, it’s either because something very good is happening — or because something very bad is happening.
For Eagles quarterback Mike Vick, his ability to run 100 yards on Friday will be very good for the Eagles.
Unless something bad happens while he’s doing it.
“I’m going to run 100 yards as fast as I can, and try to cut, try to make some subtle movement in the pocket and just see what happens,” Vick said after Thursday’s practice, via Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com.
“I’m ready to get to it. I’m ready to get it out of the way,” Vick said. “I’m ready to just get it over with. I’ve been throwing every day, just trying to keep my arm in shape, keep my mind mentally in football. But I really want to get out there and sprint and run. This is part of the process.”
Running full speed could aggravate the injury. If it doesn’t, Vick will be ready to go on Sunday against the Giants, and Eagles fans will surely hope he gets to run 100 yards with the ball during the game.
More importantly, Eagles fans surely will hope they get to see a win in person for the first time since the last time the Giants came to Philly, nearly 400 days ago.
