The NFL has fined Texans defensive end Jared Crick $15,750 for a roughing the passer foul committed against Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in Houston’s 17-16 loss at Kansas City on Sunday, the league confirmed to PFT.

Crick was penalized and fined for hitting Smith below his left knee after the quarterback threw a wide receiver screen in the first quarter.

The 24-year-old Crick has appeared in all seven games for the Texans in 2013, recording nine tackles.

Smith had a Crick in his leg but they still won.

How much was Charles fined for hitting Cushing “below” his knee? I know…zero!

Wow. Was an awful call at the time. This is worse. They sure love protecting qb’s.

Derrick Johnson did the same thing to Case Keenum. No flag. No penalty. you figure it out.

@dualprime…..Charles’s hit was legal under the rules. Crick’s was not. The NFL provides more protection for quarterbacks than they do for other players. Right or wrong, good or bad, the rules are the rules. The penalty was OK under the rules. The fine however was NOT appropriate. Excessive IMO.

I here you! I was being sarcastic about the hypocrisy, one guy’s knees being more important than another’s. Charles did nothing wrong.
