Talib likely to miss another week

Talib AP

Two Sundays ago, Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib strained a hip flexor against the Saints.

Last week, Talib didn’t play against the Jets after practicing on a limited basis only on Friday and being listed as doubtful.  This week, Talib practiced on a limited basis all week, and he’s listed as questionable.

Despite the more encouraging classification, Talib currently is believed to be closer to not playing than playing.

As a result, the current expectation is that the Patriots won’t have Talib available when the Dolphins come to town.  If Talib doesn’t play, New England will need extra help when covering Miami receiver Mike Wallace.

Not good news for the D.

Aqib Talib got the reputation as a “shutdown corner” by being shut down for 4-7 games per season.

Good, let him heal. No reason to force him back now and then get hurt again before the season ends. This is good for the long run.

Now they have to teach the next man up how to push in the back

Happy about this. Talib is the most important player left on defense. Rather have him for January and hopefully February than October. Even if it means taking an extra L or 2.

Wait, I thought that Muppet John Clayton said Talib was definitely playing this week? Looks like the Pats crackdown on injury leaks includes spreading disinfo, LOL.

Bill not only cheats he lies.
    He is such a loser.
    Bad for the NFL

Rather see him sit and heal if he’s still bothered in any significant way by it. Easier to reinjure something like that than injure it in the first place.

I’m glad that’s your (idiotic) opinion, but what does it have to do with Talib missing another week?

Talib needs to be healthy down the road. He is the best cb in the league so far…but, he needs to heal up.

Good, we need all the help we can get

Looks like the Patriots are going to let the Dolphins get back n the chase.

It’s always risky to rush players at any position back from a muscle injury given the high risk of re-aggravation.

It’s especially risky to rush a cornerback given that the position demands frequent running at high speed and change of direction.

Talib is a very good CB, but you wouldn’t want a gimpy cornerback on a guy who runs a 4.30 40-yard dash like Mike Wallace. Better to get Talib up to 100% for the rest of the season than rush him back and give him a matchup that requires a lot of speed.

Lol help with Mike Wallace. The Patriots will just single cover him and focus more on the best receiver on that dolphins team, Brian Hartline.
