Vikings add tight end Chase Ford from practice squad

Chase Ford AP

The Vikings promoted first-year tight end Chase Ford from the practice squad on Saturday.

The move gives Minnesota three healthy tight ends for Sunday’s game vs. Green Bay with reserve Rhett Ellison (ankle) ruled out for Week Eight. Ford, who has been on the practice squad all season, could provide depth behind Kyle Rudolph and John Carlson.

The 23-year-old Ford has also had stints on the Cowboys’ and Eagles’ practice squads. He is a Miami (Fla.) product.

In a corresponding transaction, the Vikings waived defensive end Justin Trattou.

LOL…..the Vikings defense holding anyone to 13 points. How about they first work on holding opposing teams to 30.

The poor guy was stashed on the practice squad all year and finally he gets the call up, to a 1-5 squad that is going nowhere. His dream of playing professional football will have to be put on hold.

Remember when the formidable Vikings squad made the 0-6 Giants look like a Super Bowl caliber team?

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing Xavier Rhodes and Shariff Floyd in action. From all the preseason talk, they were going to duke it outfit defensive player of the year. Of course, Cordarelle Patterson has the offensive Rookie of the Year pretty much locked.
