Jaguars stay winless at “home,” 49ers cruise to 6-2

AP

London’s probably getting an NFL team one day.

Unless, of course, they see enough Jaguars games and decide to pass.

The “home” Jaguars looked as much like a professional team as The Monkees resembled The Beatles, as they were thrashed 42-10 by the 49ers.

The 49ers scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and never looked back. That kept the Jaguars from using their best offensive player (Maurice Jones-Drew) to full effect, and they never had much of a chance. There was a brief flurry of competence in the third quarter, but this was on the whole another embarrassing display.

The Jaguars are now 0-8, having lost 13 straight going back to last year and 27 of their last 31.

San Francisco took care of business on the ground, rushing for 221 yards, with Kendall Hunter getting 84 yards, Frank Gore 71 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Colin Kaepernick 54 yards and two touchdowns (along with his efficient enough 164 passing yards).

The win was the fifth straight for the 49ers after a 1-2 start. They now have a bye week before hosting the surprising Panthers. That game should be more of a challenge for their offense, or just a challenge in general.

Because Sunday was not.

  1. They will never win a game as long as they keep that awful helmet; for they hath made the God of Good Taste angry.

Dear Jacksonville, if you’re going to do a gradient either do it right or not at all.

  2. The Jaguars are an absolute disgrace. I feel bad for those London people who paid money and got to see something that vaguely resembles professional football. What fun is it to watch one team get it’s head kicked in when the people going to these London games are general fans just wanting to see an NFL game rather than only 49ers fans, or worse Jaguars fans. What an embarrassment.

  3. As a 49er fan we were looking to make this game an excuse for a vacation. Some of the worse seats were 275.00 a seat after the conversion rate. The seats we were looking at were 375.00…. I’m so glad we passed.

Actually their unis are the only reason to watch them. One day maybe they will play up to the level of their cool design.

  5. Jags need a real QB. Not the Dolphin reject Henne or Gabbert. Well, they need a lot of other things too!!!

  6. Easy switch for the Jags division wise.

    AFC East

    London(Jags)

    New England

    Buffalo

    New York

    AFC South

    Miami

    Indianapolis

    Tennessee

    Houston

  7. You can always count on an insecure Seahawks fan to appear on a 49er thread. Expansion team fans looking for validation from a real team.

And by the way, the Monkees were nowhere near as bad as the Jaguars.

  8. Hey Jaguars-

You guys needs a QB. The following quarterbacks are on their couches that are better than the QBs you have right now:

    1. John Skelton
    2. Vince Young
    3. Matt Leinart
    4. Mike Kafka
    5. Tyler Thigpen
    6. Byron Leftwich

Oh, and if you want to get some excitement, you can go and get Pat White. And if you want to sell out your stadium and actually get the people in the seats, you get Tim Tebow.

But if you want to move to LA, you’re doing a great job!

Their jerseys are OK, not great but not terrible. However their helmet is truly one of the worst things that has ever been created by man. It looks stupid, that gradient is as dumb of a design choice as exists in the universe. It’s awful. No one not married to their sister likes it. No one.

  10. Another great day to be Niners fans….

Just wait until Manningham and Crabtree are back.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Seadderall loses in St. Louis. And only a fan of a team who has no perspective of what winning means thinks the season is done after week 8.

Go back to rooting for other teams you bandwagon hopping hacks.

  12. Need to bring in VINCE YOUNG… At least give him a tryout….
He is ready to play NOW…. Vince is 6′-5″– mobile– with talent and playoff experience…. He is hungry, motivated and determined to show he can play this game at a high level….
Vince is a LOW risk-HIGH reward type of guy… and a wise choice for any GM/Head Coach looking to upgrade their quarterback pool….

  13. If you want to put a team in London, and get the Londoners excited for NFL football, why the hell do they keep sending the Jags? They were terrible when they signed that deal! And I’m in no way convinced the only reason most of the tickets sell isn’t because it’s an “event”, and not because they love the NFL. I think on PFT after the last game, they said most of the media there barely covered it, if at all.

  14. Oh Obnoxious Seahawks fan… I so look forward to our second meeting in SF. My guess is we’ll have split our wins.

I love when the young players celebrate in the end zone when their team is down by 3 scores. Big boys just hand the ball to the reef and act like they’ve been there before.

Why don’t you celebrate after you win the division and the Super Bowl.

    Quick quiz Hawk Fan:

How many Super Bowls have the Niners won? 5
How many Super Bowls have the Seahawks won: Bupkiss

Take a breather and kill us with your wit once you’ve done something big!

  15. The good news is that the Jaguars scored their first touchdown of the season at home.

The bad news is that they still have not scored a touchdown in Jacksonville.

  16. Jaguars could have drafted both Kaepernick and Aldon Smith in 2011 but picked Gabbert instead. Hard to feel sorry for them.

  17. I got the start time of the game mixed up… When I tuned in, the score was already 28-0 in the 2nd quarter. Crud! The rest of the game was a little… slow.

    Go 9ers!

We were also going to make the game in London a highlight of a UK vacation. After contacting the Jags four times (4 flippn times) I finally got a call to say that once tickets were put on sale, we’d get a call back.

Needless to say, no one ever called or retuned my other follow up calls. Looks like the Jags Front Office is as good as the On Field product…way to go Jags.
Aftermarket tickets were $425+ ea. for nose bleed seats, so instead we traveled inside the US. I’m so glad we passed!!

    Hey Godell, take note:
We spent a lot of $$$ on vacation and none of it on NFL stuff.
Think maybe you could get a better handle on this?  I mean, you can NOT use the “It’s our first time here/still figuring things out” excuse that you’ve used the last several years. Maybe it’s time to start having things done, on & off the field right?
