Michael Vick out for Eagles

AP

It’s been a rough first half for the Eagles offense and it looks like it will be up to Matt Barkley to change things around.

Michael Vick, playing for the first time since Week Five because of a hamstring injury, has been removed from the game just before the two minute warning in the second quarter. The move is not surprising as Vick has looked like a shell of himself as the Eagles picked up just two first downs while he was in the game and the quarterback clearly didn’t have the burst needed to take advantage of his running ability.

Vick was spotted riding the exercise bike more than once to keep his leg loose, but the results weren’t getting any better and the Eagles decided to make a change when they fell behind 12-0 on Josh Brown’s fourth field goal of the game.

Barkley threw three picks in relief of Nick Foles last weekend. If he should repeat that performance, the Eagles’ home losing streak is going to extend a little longer.

  1. Good – we can stop with the Vick love because objectively looking at his career – he doesn’t deserve the press.

    Not even close.

  2. Enough of this guy already. Since 2010 Vick has been nothing more than a fragile turnover machine with flashes of brilliance, that are only growing more infrequent with time.

That said as someone who hates the Eagles and all Philly sports I am thrilled to see that Eric Barkley is their answer right now.

  3. Someone needs to rent a few dozen billboards around New York and plaster “FIRE KEVIN GILBRIDE” on them. This guy seriously should been gone 3 or 4 years ago. This garbage he does with run 2 yards, run 3 yards, screen pass 3 yards, punt, makes me want to bash my head into a wall. 3rd and forever and you’re going to cal a draw play? Last year Wilson rips a something like a 30 yard TD, but no! let’s put Bradshaw and his leg brace back out there and have him hobble into the defensive line for a 3 and out. You want to fix the problems on offense, start by swinging the axe at Gilbride.

  4. Thank you Andy Reid for leaving us with this mess. You heard it here first chief fans. Once Reid loses the players he was given, you will have the same mess on your hands. We told you how bad Donavan McNabb was and we were criticized by everyone. Look what happened there!

  5. Who really thought Vick could recover that quickly from a hammy, especially for a QB who’s game is ALL ABOUT running? He’ll need at least 2-3 more weeks before he’s healed, maybe even more. Yet another season Vick can only go for 9-10 games. Shocking.

I realize alot of you Eagles fans are slow, but Andy is ONLY our HC!!! Not sure how many times you have to be told that but our GM is John Dorsey. Both he and Andy report to our teams owner, Clark Hunt. Not saying he doesn’t have input on players but John has final say. John doesn’t answer to Andy, Andy doesn’t answer to John. I hope that clears things up for you…..

  7. scramblers never ared around for enough of the season to be franchise guys..

    Vick hasn’t learned that

there will never be a franchise QB who scrambles like that… it’s not about talent…. it’s physics… eventually they take a hard knee hit from a DB or LB and they’re out for half the season.. if a QB is out every year from hits…. he’s not your franchise guy… it’s amazing Philly hasn’t learned that.

Griffin hasn’t learned it either… Luck will be in the league 7 years after Griffin is out on injuries.

Not slow at all. I’ll talk to you again in a few years. Then you may have some understanding of football under Andy. You have NO CLUE.

Michael Vick, fooling the masses for over 10 years now.

    SMH.

I hear that, Joe. I could never understand the fascination with him from year one.
Sure, he got yards by scrambling, but it never resulted in any big playoff success.
His throws have always been awful and we all know that as a QB ages, the results of this scramble first play goes downhill quickly.
Smart QBs last in this league by making adjustments (with coaches help) to their play. IE, shorter passes.
None of the scramble QBs seem to learn.
    Even Farve didnt learn.
Difference with him was he hAd that big ol built like a tractor country boy build, AND, he had an accurate lazer arm. Not staying in thenpocket cost him some massive beatings those last couple years as well.

    A) Donovan was never “bad” in Philly. DC and Minnesota yes, never in Philly. And even being at the end of his career with a seriously diminishing skill-set, Donovan in his last two years in Philly was far better than anything they’ve had since then.

    B) You also told everyone how great Kevin Kolb was, and to use your own words, look what happened there.

    C) I highly doubt Chiefs fan are sitting there depressed about their great start because some dope Eagles fan on the internet tells them that ten years down the road, they might not be that good due to Andy Reid’s talent evaluation abilities.

Tough with words but where are you from son. Must be Pittsburgh. You know nothing about Philly or their fans.

  12. I actually live in Vegas, but Philly born and raised and an Eagles fan, thanks for asking “son”.

I know plenty about Philly fans, I am one. What I have no time for is “I listen to too much WIP” fans like you.

  13. tory707

Apparently you are. See our new GM was smart enough to dump 30 of the lousy players Pioli had left him with. I haven’t ANY of you complain about the moves your NEW staff has made, just bitch about Andy. So why no complaints at them for not turning over your roster?????

  14. youcantmakemepickausername

You just exposed yourself. You listen to WIP. 50 year season ticket holder that lived and breathed eagles since Franklin field. I’m going to listen to an Eagles fan from Vegas that probably watches 2 games a year. You would be the minority in Philly backing Donavan. You must have had him in you fantasy league right?

  15. repmochief50
That’s funny because they had T Halli on the news the other day and he was asked why are the Chiefs so good. He said it has to be the coaches because we have the same players for the most part. Enjoy your year. They are having a great one so far. I’ll talk to you in a few years. Oh yea let me know how many Super Bowls Andy has won for your team by then!

  16. Chip Kelly, bring back Dennis Dixon!!!

At least he knows your offense and keeps you in games.

Don’t trust Pittsburgh and use their lack of use of him to determine his roster status. He nearly beat the Ravens in 2009 on SNF.

Pittsburgh let Plaxico Burress, Alan Faneca, Chris Hope, Antwaan Randle-El, Santonio Holmes, and Keenan Lewis go. They proved that they can still play.

It’s not about the player and where they came from. It’s about what they show on film.

If you want to win now get someone who can help.

Dixon is on Buffalo’s practice squad. I’d snatch him if I were you.
