Seahawks, Rams offenses both struggle in St. Louis

The World Series and Monday Night Football are both being played in St. Louis tonight. The football game is higher scoring. But not by much.

Both the Seahawks’ offense and the Rams’ offense are struggling in an ugly NFL game in St. Louis.

Rams quarterback Kellen Clemens, making his first start of the season in place of the injured Sam Bradford, has looked like the backup quarterback he is, with a pair of interceptions, one picked off by Seattle’s Bruce Irvin and one by Richard Sherman.

And the Seahawks’ offense was dreadful early in the game, as Seattle’s banged-up offensive line made life rough for Russell Wilson. In the first quarter, the Seahawks had negative yardage, although they finally began to move the ball in the second quarter and got on the board with a Wilson touchdown pass to Golden Tate.

That touchdown gave the Seahawks a 7-3 lead in a fairly ugly Monday night game.

  1. Really liked Gruden’s commentary and complaint with the back-to-back QB bootleg plays. His idea of using the “heavy artillery” was smart and a better play. Plus you can’t have Russell Wilson take punishment on every snap of the ball for the rest of his career. You don’t need to get fancy and try and screw with him when you have 1st and Goal from the 1. Pete Carroll is annoying sometimes. Gruden is a lot smarter and knows football better than he does.

  2. Big night in St Louis, with the Rams, and the Cards playing!

To bad Baltimore can’t have two games at the same (Ravens, Orioles) because their share a parking lot. #poorcityplanning

  3. Wilson is taking a brutal beating tonight. They better make some adjustments before he is out for the year

  4. @hendeeze
    Need pills?

We’re playing with a backup oline, and several injured receivers. Yet were winning. Keep hating. We’re doing successful as a team. Meanwhile your lowly life is filled with with insults, jealousy, and hate. Best of luck with that

  5. With LT Okung and RT Giacomini out our O-line is COMPLETELY pathetic. Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider NEED to draft for the Offensive Line in the next NFL draft.

  6. the excuses out of you children is hilarious. they very well may go on a strong run later in year like last year but they really dont look so good away from the link.

  7. Ugh. I was kidding about Clemens taking us to the Superbowl, but come on. Just don’t turn the ball over, man. We’re not asking you to win the game just don’t lose it.

By the way, impressed by the crowd tonight with the World Series literally a few blocks away. So, you want to move the Rams to LA, but San Diego has one of the worst stadiums in sports and the Raiders share their stadium with the A’s while the sewage backs up. Greed with no common sense at it’s finest people.

  8. Can’t wait to see the Niners pass rush against this banged up o-line of Seattle. Hawks took round one in their noise box. Round 2 is at the ‘Stick. I like the Niners chances, especially since the team is starting to get play makers back.

  9. Hey seatownballbag,

Injuries are part of the game, every team has’m & gets’m! Stop making excuses…. Your Defense is awsome (even though Sherman’s bigass fat mouth needs to shut-it) but Wilson is overrated & the receiving corps. Is avg. @ best.
Seahag fans need to stop beating their chests like their idiot DB ‘s do an act like you’ve been there before.
If you have to keep convincing everyone your good….your probably not!

  10. Cue the Seahawks fans to complain about their injuries and tell us once they have their o-line back and Harvin they’ll be putting up 500 yards a week…

  11. As a Cards fan, I’m pulling for the Rams. But…
I understand Kellen has trouble getting into his house at night. Someone installed an endzone between his driveway and front door.

  12. Tough night in St. Louis… Great baseball team.

Man, if I didn’t see a flashback of Akron 1 yard away from upsetting Michigan this evening.

Man, incredibly frustrating. Take the one pass to Tate away and this was a Thursday night football game in the making.

Good lord I’m so disappointed that they slipped by again with their usually mediocre football game.

On a bright note damn fine defensive line play Rams.

  13. I love this Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde mentality of the commenters on here.

Had this been the blowout everyone expected, everyone on here would’ve been singing the praises of all things Seattle. Because it ended up being closer than expected, despite St. Louis being a division rival and having a good defense…out come the PED jokes and ignorant comments?

    They won the game people…

  14. How on earth does Brian Schottenheimer have a job?!!! you have first and goal on the three yard line and you throw it four freaking times and no PA passes- no rollouts- no three step drops- just line up in empty and throw it four times. Im pretty sure any educated fan could have done better than that. The last three plays especially! Line up in heavy and run a run play-ok- then line up in heavy and throw a PA- than roll Kellen out and give him a 2 man route to read and get rid of the ball- simple stuff! HS coaches are smarter than that! The rest of the game was terrible- he throws slants 90 percent of the time and doesn’t throw PA off power. He doesn’t throw it deep at all. God I wish my dad was famous!

  15. seattle has good players, I just hate their style. It so in your face. Show some sportsmanship. Taunting, trash talking, late hits, etc. If you are really so good you should just handle a team like the Rams with their backup QB no prob. And keep in mind it’s all coming back you. Every team you beat in that fashion is going to completely pound you with relish when you are not so strong due to injuries, free agency etc.

  16. Guess who didnt look terrible on the road against St Louis? The 49ers.

Real contenders play well everywhere. Overrated.

Yes the Seahawks are mediocre to say the least on the road and the 49ers did take care of the Rams easily, but to say the 49ers can play well anywhere is absurd. Hence the 29-3 drubbing they took at Seattle. What gets me is how one team can play so good at home and that bad on the road.. I know the 12th man and all, but the Seahawks go from being one of the best in the NFL at home to being an iffy top 16 team on the road

And yet, even after a bad road performance by us, you’re STILL a game behind us, because we won! And unlike the Rams, you won’t get THIS offensive line by the December rematch, Okung and Giacomini will be back! HAHAHAHAHA!

Oh yea, like the 49ers played in Seattle? At least the Rams scored more than 3, unlike Frisco.

Really? Cuz, well first of all, Aldon Smith will still be in rehab then, wearing his fluffy white robe. also, by then we’ll have okung back. And Percy will be in the lineup. And we killed you guys the last two times we’ve played, and you didn’t even sniff the end zone last time we met. And Crabtree still gonna be hurt, and well,……… Were gonna hammer on your guys again!

    Yes, Seahawks are terrible.

I’ll give you a “reality check”. You better fix some things especially the o-line because your 7-1 team got outplayed by an obvious inferior team.

I sure did an no way the Hawks should have won. I know its hard for Hawks fans but try and be humble for once and admit you got outplayed.
