Patriots announce Sebastian Vollmer is done for the season

AP

Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer’s season is over.

The Patriots announced today that Vollmer has been placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering a leg injury on Sunday against the Dolphins.

That news is not unexpected, as Vollmer needed surgery after breaking his leg. But it is a significant blow to New England. Vollmer had started every game this season and was playing well on an offense that has had plenty of difficulties elsewhere.

Marcus Cannon is expected to be the starting right tackle in New England going forward.

The roster spot opened up by putting Vollmer on IR will be taken by defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga, who arrived in a trade with the Eagles today.

    Ah, he’s not dying.

  3. Patriot stories are better troll bait than even Seahawk stories.

Jealousy is a stinky cologne, Pat haters. You clowns reek.

  4. haha I’m announcing to the world…this guy is hurt, that guy is hurt. Maybe they are announcing to VEGAS right? people gotta bet

  5. I don’t expect much drop off with Cannon, in fact, the running game to the right side may improve.

  6. Sopo’aga is a very strong man inside. The 49ers are missing him a bit this year – Good pick up by the Pats.

LMAO! Typical delusional self-important bandwagon Seahags fan

No one hates your team because they’re good – they hate your team full of roided showboating scumbags and your arrogant fanbase that just came scurrying out of the woodwork recently

  9. Haters keep hating. Mouth breathers keep breathing. BB and Brady will live on in infamy as 2 of the greatest and their jobs. No amount of trolling can erase the statistics and records that will go down as one of the greatest era’s the NFL has ever seen. They have cemented their place in history and will receive eternal football life.

  10. This is a big blow – according to Profootballfocus, Volmer was the 8th ranked tackle in pass protection

But somehow, the Pats seem to find ways to plug another body into that OL and give Brady all day

  11. Marcus Cannon is a good up and coming player , but the bottom line is that the Patriots will essentially have an offensive guard lining up at the right tackle position.

    Blue18 –

Reading comprehension was never your strong suit at Sylvan, was it? I said absolutely nothing about Seattle being good or bad, so how does that make me “delusional” and “self important”. Do explain.

Also, my kid sister uses all caps LMAO all the time too. It’s super cute when she does it. Kind of lame and creepy when a grown adult (I think?) uses it as well.

    Clean it up

  13. Steelersaregodsteam: you’re team is going to have their asses handed to them this week. Also, Pouncey will be served this week too. Ben is still a rapist and that is why he paid those girls off.

  14. Stopoaga let go by two teams within 9 months leaves one to consider he can no longer get it done. Then you realize the second to let him go is Philadelphia and you know he’s done.

  15. stealersareadogsteam … Do all former Stealers end up dead, living in a cardboard box, or just their HOFers ? The Rooney’s murdered Webster, the facts don’t lie.

  16. well I for one hated to see the patriots draft Marcus Cannon. I think this kid is going to be a stud. He only fell in the draft because of his medical condition at the time. I wish him the best, but still hate the patriots. However I loved the seymour trade.

^ Good call. Seattle is a roided out, bagtastic squad with some of the dumbest fans in the sport. Yell, Seattle fan in your concert hall, then yell louder. Then yell more. Wow, you’re such great fans.

  18. It’s an old saying, “Injuries are part of the game.” Deep down you just hope that at some point your team hit’s its “quota” and it’s over.

Seems like a lot of quality guys for the Patriots are done for the year, but many fanbases feel the same way about their squads.

I think we all agree, the game would be better served if all teams stayed healthy.

I am not a betting man, but I do wonder about the odds whether this Pouncy shows up in NE.
I say they list him as a healthy scratch.

  20. They accuse the pats of cheating mainly cause their teams suck and the pats never do. Not since 2001 anyway. Worst 6-2 team in history? We are still 6-2 moron. In the immortal words of triple H “suck it”

  21. “All those injuries this year and yet they’re still in first place. Damned Bill your good.”

Sure is. And it helps that his team plays in a division where the other teams are picking in the top 10 of the draft year-in and year-out. But you go ahead an feel good about yourselves, patsie fans.

Every year tommy terrific gets a year older & closer to retirement. The second coming of Jerry Rice couldn’t save this team now.
    2013 patsies= Dead Team Walking

  22. As a Ravens fan, I feel bad for the patriots , I’m not happy. As much as I cant stand The patriots , I still want to see a good, clean football game. The patriots have already been decimated by key injuries, one more is just overkill in my opinion. The crazy thing is , despite the loss, Brady and the bunch will probably see themselves to 7-2 in some crazy way… now that being said, Go Ravens!!

Serious question, i’m new to the US working on assignment – why do people accuse the patriots of cheating? They seem like a model franchise…

    Thanks for the reply.

They were caught breaking NFL rules about using video surveillance on other teams.

But that’s only half of the answer.

NFL fans whose favorite team doesn’t win act like babies for the most part. We can turn into soccer fans who got too drunk to riot. That and internet trolling is a really fun way to pass time.

Remind us all again how many playoff games the Redskins have won in the same time period, please.

  25. Ilovebaxter = tool

You see, don’t you, that most people in America actually despise the pats, the coach who cheated, and by association Brady who is having another bad year.

Just so you are aware. Yo.

  26. Pats cheat and the hoodie is a whiner
BB is an embarrassment to the NFL
If he was as good as the pats fans think he would be the face of the NFL
    Not respected anywhere else

  27. For the Just-End-The-Season JETS JETS JETS fans who continually troll any story about the Patriots in order to vent your bile, here’s how many Superbowls the Jets have won since the AFL-NFL merger: 0

  28. All the idiots who are happy and think karma did this are bring BAD karma on themselves. See, there are two types of karma, but you people just say “karma”. There is also good karma. Karma knows what you are all thinking and what’s in your heart. It’s coming for you too!
