The Bengals were so thin at linebacker earlier this year, they had to press safety Taylor Mays into duty in the front seven.
Now, they won’t be able to play him anywhere, as he was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Mays suffered a dislocated shoulder in Sunday’s win over the Jets, the team announced.
He was a solid contributor for the Bengals on both defense and special teams, even if the former second-rounder never quite lived up to his draft status.
