Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins was carted to the locker room after suffering a knee injury Thursday night against the Dolphins.
Atkins’ right knee twisted and he went down awkwardly in the middle of the line in the second quarter. He limped to the sideline, assisted by teammates, and then got on a cart and was taken to the locker room.
There’s no immediate word on the severity of Atkins’s injury, but it did not look good. The Bengals described him as questionable to return.
Atkins is widely regarded as one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL, and he signed a five-year, $55 million contract in September. Losing him for any period of time would be a major blow to the Bengals.
