Packers wide receiver James Jones was a limited practice participant on Friday, head coach Mike McCarthy said, according to the club’s Twitter feed.

Jones has practiced on each of the last two days, albeit on a limited basis, after missing the last two games with a knee injury. He did not practice leading up to either of those games.

The Packers (5-2) host the Bears (4-3) on Monday night in Green Bay, giving Jones an extra day of rest if needed.

Jones has caught 20 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns in five games this season.

In Jones’ absence, second-year receiver Jarrett Boykin has stepped up his game, catching a combined 13 passes for 192 yards in a pair of starts.

  1. It would be great to have Jones back to team with Nelson and Boykin, but I hope he waits until he’s really ready. The next week will be a “day short,” and there’s not much sense in coming back now only to have to sit out again.
Good thing the Pack has a ground game this year. If they can keep grinding out wins and then get Cobb back late in the season, it could be a year to remember.

  2. Would love to have him back 100 percent for the Bears, however have to be 100 percent!!!! Otherwise don’t risk it!!! It’s only the Bears… Keep it out of Hesters hands, Double team Marshell, and then just keep Forte in check and the game should be pretty smooth.

    GPG!

  3. Agreed with Delta. With Boykin playing well and getting reps and producing, I don’t mind JJ to sit out another week to comeback full strength. GBP to bring the PAIN Monday night. Although, will be sad not to see Ray Nutler’s pouty little face on the field.
