The Ravens are dealing with some bad injury news as they prepare to return from their bye week.

Left guard Kelechi Osemele is expected to miss the rest of the 2013 season with a back injury, head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Friday, according to multiple published reports.

It’s anticipated the injury will require surgery, Harbaugh said.

Osemele, 24, has started all 23 regular-season games and all four postseason games for the Ravens since Baltimore drafted him in the second round in 2012. He had appeared on the injury report with a back ailment in Week Six, then re-appeared on the report this week with knee and back injuries. He put in a limited practice on Wednesday but did not participate on Thursday.

A.Q. Shipley is listed as the top backup to Osemele on the Ravens’ depth chart. According to the Ravens’ Twitter feed, Shipley has indicated he’ll start on Sunday at Cleveland.
