Ponder trying to sell house he doesn’t live in

It wasn’t that long ago that Christian Ponder was the future in Minnesota.

But his own up-and-down play and the addition of Josh Freeman has certainly cast doubt about it, and he’s made a move that won’t do anything to quell the perception that he’s a short-timer with the Vikings.

According to Paul Walsh of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Vikings quarterback has put his 5,540-square foot Lake Minnetonka home on the market.

Granted, football players put houses on the market all the time for many reasons and it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re leaving. And Ponder’s wife even took to Twitter to inform a questioner that they haven’t lived in the house since June. But divesting yourself of a large expense would make one more portable, if the need would arise.

Either way, if you need an eight-bedroom estate outside the Twin Cities in a gated community with all the extras, there’s one available for $1.095 million. Ponder bought it for $880,000 in July 2012.

Getting his asking price would help him make a nice down payment on his next residence, wherever that might be.
