Broncos coach John Fox has reportedly been taken to the hospital.

Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN report that Fox, who was golfing in Charlotte this weekend while the Broncos are on their bye week, is expected to be OK. Fox was taken by ambulance from the golf course to a North Carolina hospital.

The 58-year-old Fox, who has been a football coach for his entire adult life and an NFL head coach for the last 12 years, does not have a history of significant health problems.

The 7-1 Broncos are off this weekend and will resume practice on Monday. They travel to San Diego to play the Chargers on November 10.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m. ET: Despite initial reports that Fox had symptoms associated with a heart attack, the Broncos say he did not suffer a heart attack.

A vegetarian diet and moderate exercise will go a long way towards recovery. The doctor has spoken.

The shock of going from a mans diet to a vegetarian diet might make it worse. I’ve never been a fan of his coaching but always been a fan of the man. He’s always conducted himself very well even when his teams were in the toilet he never threw people under the bus. Get well soon coach.

As a Raiders fan, I don’t like to hear that and am shocked at the news. I wish him a speedy recovery.

    Get Well

The amount of energy and effort he puts in each and every Sunday is admirable and I hope he gets well soon, but he wont be returning this year. Recovering from a Heart attack takes a lot of time and he shouldnt rush back to the game if he even chooses to resume his Coaching Career. Take your time Coach

Who knew golf was so stressful ?
But seriously, get well quick coach!

  21. egeilich says: Nov 2, 2013 4:52 PM

I always wondered when he was going to have a heart attack. He is completely stressed out during the games, running back and forth and exploding in anger. The complete receipe for a heart attack. Also, he looks like he drinks. Big time. A bright rosy red face. I didn’t know that Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen are cardiologists. How do they know he is going to be okay? I believe they are way off base to comment on a situation that they know nothing about. He might need a stent or several or a heart by pass. He might have to retire from coaching. Another heart attack candidate is crazyman Tom Coughlin. He runs around in a continual state of extreme anger and he just had a younger brother die of a heart attack.

That stinks. One of the classiest and most likeable coaches in the NFL. Get well soon

  25. emauro28 says: Nov 2, 2013 4:56 PM

My prayers go out to the Fox Family for a speedy recovery! As for the football side of things he even picked the bye week for a good time to get sick!

    Rub some dirt on it.
