Dez Bryant’s advisor says Dez wants a new deal after the season

Bryant AP

Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant is sufficiently passionate about football to yell at people about it.  After this football season, he’ll be passionate about getting paid.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll yell at anyone about it.

Bryant’s advisor (not agent but advisor) David Wells tells Michael Silver of NFL Network that Bryant looks forward to signing a long-term deal in the offseason.

Bryant is due to make a base salary of $1.78 million in 2014, the final year of his rookie deal.  But the Cowboys currently are more than $30 million over the salary cap in 2014, making it harder to find the money to pay Bryant.

While it won’t be impossible to shuffle money to get the cap situation within line, they’ll need to clear at least $35 million to $40 million in order to sign draft picks and other veterans and extend Bryant’s deal, especially if he’s looking for high-end money.

So even if the Cowboys want to extend Bryant’s deal, it could be difficult if not impossible to do it.  And there’s really nothing Bryant can do about it.

Nice going David Wells. Tie the hands of the NFLPA certified agent why don’t you?

Top 5 WRs in Professional Football – Calvin Johnson, Pierre Garcon, Larry Fitzgerald, AJ Green and Leonard Hankerson. In that order.

He’s within his right to start planting seeds though. Bryant has been a TD machine. 35 touchdowns in 51 games is pretty darn good.

  4. bender4700 says: Nov 3, 2013 3:15 PM

2nd straight week Dez Bryant has acted like a moron.

15 yard personal foul which cost Dallas a 3rd down after offensive pass interference.

New deal? How about with the CFL?

  5. 7mantel says: Nov 3, 2013 3:20 PM

Needs to go to anger management first !

  6. jimmysee says: Nov 3, 2013 3:27 PM

He’s a free agent — he could sign with the Vikings.

  7. cags777 says: Nov 3, 2013 3:28 PM

Sorry, but players who deserve new deals don’t have public meltdowns in games when you’re up by only three points.

  8. bender4700 says: Nov 3, 2013 3:31 PM

Dez is not a top 5 WR, because of what he brings to the table. He could be #2 if he shut his mouth and didn’t act like an idiot all the time.

Another week of Dez Bryant all day on ESPN this week. Great.

Hello Dez. Good bye Miles Austin.

  10. cometkazie says: Nov 3, 2013 3:38 PM

This will be fun to watch.

Too bad the Cowboy’s GM got them in the predicament.

  13. joetoronto says: Nov 3, 2013 3:53 PM

    He’s already broke.

  14. melikefootball says: Nov 3, 2013 3:53 PM

Yea he should get one , less money. Dallas fans have you had enough of this selfish all about me player. He may have cost the Cowboys the game just by taking them out of field goal range. Not a smart guy.

  15. donmcg2012 says: Nov 3, 2013 3:56 PM

He’s a spoiled egotistical little kid brat in an adult body, does he still have his babysitter JJ got for him?

  16. vikes69 says: Nov 3, 2013 3:57 PM

logicalvoicesays: thats a joke, Hankerson isn’t even top 25, garcon is barley top 10

  17. bigblue86 says: Nov 3, 2013 4:00 PM

Isn’t this his rookie contract? So he would be a RFA after next season? He might be ready for a big contract, but since none of the teams seem interested in going after another team’s RFAs the Cowboys might not be ready to give him a big contract, especially if they don’t have the cap room. Dez isn’t going anywhere after 2014.

  18. vaughnjoe says: Nov 3, 2013 4:00 PM

Dezs’ “advisor” needs to go sit down somewhere because Dez needs a minute to decide if hes the guy or just another mouthpiece.

  19. ocdn says: Nov 3, 2013 4:05 PM

Dez Bryant is still and always be a self centered cry baby. He couldn’t even hold CJ’s jock.

  20. selldannysell says: Nov 3, 2013 4:07 PM

Wide receivers. The problem children of the NFL.

  21. cubsin2049 says: Nov 3, 2013 4:08 PM

Timing is everything David Wells….Your client makes a fool of himself two weeks in a row and then you come out with that statement. No wonder he has hired you.
Even Jay Carney would be proud.

  22. sdot2222 says: Nov 3, 2013 4:18 PM

    Giants fan here.
Can someone explain to me why Dez is a “diva”, “spoiled” and “egotistical jerk” for yelling on the sidelines but Tom Brady is “passionate” for yelling/cursing on the sidelines at coaches and players???

  23. ken49ers says: Nov 3, 2013 4:25 PM

    T.O. 2.0

  24. tjacks7 says: Nov 3, 2013 4:39 PM

    Good luck stone hands.

  25. maurysline says: Nov 3, 2013 4:48 PM

Dallas is handcuffed with the salary cap next year so giving him a large sum new contract one year early is not going to happen if they are smart. Get ready for some high drama when this child in mans body gets told no. It is not even hard to imagine a hold out or piss poor play due to a bad attitude clouding all his thought process.

  26. thebadguyswon says: Nov 3, 2013 4:58 PM

He’ll get paid and you Cowboys haters will have to find something else to twist your panties about.

  27. dirtydrynn27 says: Nov 3, 2013 5:07 PM

He thinks he`s as good as Calvin Johnson but after last week we all know the deal on that!!!!! He will want CJ money but he aint nowhere close to CJ.Difference is CJ plays ball and keeps his mouth shut…..Dez kinda reminds me of T.O. with his sideline antics!

  28. sarahepatterson says: Nov 3, 2013 5:11 PM

My last pay check was 9500 dolr working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out.
    This is what I do…

  29. bignugs says: Nov 3, 2013 5:13 PM

Impeccable timing by this buffoon. Hard to understand why Dez acts the way he does if this is his “advisor.”

  30. fievel03 says: Nov 3, 2013 5:15 PM

He makes T.O. look like a Buddhist monk.

  31. willybear7525 says: Nov 3, 2013 5:30 PM

Yet again. Jerry Jones proves that just because you have the money to buy a team, doesnt mean you know how to manage it.

  32. philahitman says: Nov 3, 2013 5:41 PM

    T.O. 2.0

  33. romosrevenge says: Nov 3, 2013 5:44 PM

Also, Christian Ponder looking for bigger contract in the off-season. You pinheads at PFT are laughable. Last week the biggest news IN THE NFL was Bryant EXHORTING his teammates to win IN A LOUD VOICE and this week’s headline is he wants more money. That is just HUGE news. You pinheads really do hate it when Dallas wins. Just man up and admit it.

  34. 1rockyracoon says: Nov 3, 2013 6:19 PM

Dez Bryant is on the perfect team. Yeah, the boys are so far over the cap, he will definitely get a new deal. I can’t wait to see his temper tantrums in the offseason.

  35. milkcan44 says: Nov 3, 2013 6:25 PM

There are several GMs who occasionally get remorse over passing him up in the draft, but then he quickly cures their self doubt.

  36. goldrush36 says: Nov 3, 2013 6:32 PM

Ponder’s goal will be to be on an NFL roster….. Not land a
    lucrative contract. Stupid comparison

  37. mclovin07 says: Nov 3, 2013 6:37 PM

Dez wants a new contract like I want hair on my head.

Dallas would be NUTS to sign this guy….I’d trade him to ANYONE who’d be stupid enough to take him.

  38. rodgers419 says: Nov 3, 2013 6:48 PM

Dez is a top 3 WR. Do you kiddies even watch the games? And Owens is a hall of fame WR. I’d love to have TO 2.0

  39. michfan says: Nov 3, 2013 7:05 PM

Hey Dez, after all of your second grade antics, The Cowboys might want a new deal as well, with you not part of it!

  40. vikefan says: Nov 3, 2013 7:13 PM

put dropped passes as a detriment in his performance clause, as well as reading the rule book on 15 yard penalties

  41. oaks88 says: Nov 6, 2013 12:19 PM

He needs to stop worrying about money and worry about fixing his attitude problem before he ends up like T.O.

  42. haadjijay says: Nov 6, 2013 12:59 PM

Before any signing, if there is a deal. Dez or T.O. 2.0 needs to shut up and start making catches and really be a team player. A trade is the best way to help the Cowboys. No deal Dez!!!

  43. mrflamboyant says: Nov 6, 2013 8:10 PM

Dez is the best receiver not named MegaTron. My parents yelled at me and I turned out ok. This world is full of haters and hypocrites !!!
