No protesters spotted at FedEx Field

Earlier today, ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reported that the Redskins have extra security behind their bench, for fear of protests against the team’s name -- in the team’s home stadium.

Paolantonio has since reported that no protesters have been spotted in the stadium. Per multiple reports, the Redskins separately have denied that any efforts have been made to increase security.

Still, Paolantonio reported, with video evidence, that a pair of Prince George’s County deputies were stationed behind the team’s bench. And the deputies told ESPN that they were instructed to look for protesters.

The question remains whether the goal was to pull the plug on legitimate protests or to protect team personnel against protests that cross the line.
