Falcons wide receiver Roddy White made a somewhat surprising appearance at Falcons practice on Friday after missing weeks of both practices and games as he tries to recover from a hamstring injury.

Coach Mike Smith said after the session that White would be a game-time decision for Sunday’s matchup with the Panthers, but it looks like the team will give White some more time in practice before he makes his return to game action.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that White is not expected to play against Carolina “barring significant improvement” in the state of his hamstring. The goal remains a full return to health before White gets back to a full workload, patience neither team nor player showed when White suffered a high ankle sprain in the preseason. White played at well less than 100 percent over the first chunk of the season, doing little to help the Falcons avoid a 1-4 start to the season.

Harry Douglas, Drew Davis and Darius Johnson would be the main receivers for Atlanta if White’s not able to play.
