Rodgers heads to locker room with left shoulder injury

Rodgers AP

The Packers have overcome plenty of injuries this year. They’ve sustained an injury on Monday night that could test them more than any other.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers have gone to the locker room with an apparently left shoulder injury. His return officially is questionable.

The Packers don’t have much depth at backup quarterback. The No. 2 option is veteran journeyman Seneca Wallace.

With backup quarterback Josh McCown, the Bears drove for a touchdown against the Green Bay defense. We’ll soon find out whether Wallace can do the same.

He seems like a good player and it was unfortunate that he got drafted by such a franchise.

This injury will help limit the punishment to the body until he becomes a free agent and can join a competent team.

With Rodgers out, the Packers are merely mediocre. Then they’ll see how many other teams are struggling who have a nobody behind center.

  20. kosarsmyidol says: Nov 4, 2013 9:13 PM

I hope that Rodgers isn’t out for long. Wallace simply isn’t good. Speaking of backups, it’s crazy to think that McCown was out of football and teaching prior to signing with the Bears. He’s been pretty solid for them.

  21. skolvikings58 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:13 PM

  25. nyjetsfan08 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:15 PM

I hope he is okay. Is that his throwing shoulder? There’s a reason why the NFL protects these QBs, sometimes to a fault. It’s hard to watch a game between two backups.

I don’t know how the QBs during and before the deadball era were able to stay upright. The receivers and the QB would get mobbed. Namath was beaten on that field constantly. Maybe QBs were tougher back then.

  26. s0merand0mguy says: Nov 4, 2013 9:16 PM

As an Eagles fan I want Rodgers at 100% next week so I can see how far our D has come. It’s always great to face teams with superstar QB’s it would be boring without him! Hope all is well!

  27. maiphatdong says: Nov 4, 2013 9:17 PM

  37. shogunassasin30 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:22 PM

I hate this. I know injuries are a part of the game, but coming from a Bronco fan – I can’t imagine losing Manning. I don’t know how you can feel good about yourself if your team beat Denver w/o Manning, and I don’t know how Bears fans can feel good at the prospect of beating a Green Bay team without the best player in the league. And frankly, it’s bad for business when Quarterbacks like this are injured. I don’t play fantasy football, and also I could care less about these 2 teams. But i’m watching this game because I love to watch Aaron Rodgers sling it around to Jordy Nelson and company. Now everyone is subjected to Josh McCown vs Seneca Wallace. This is why Quarterbacks are protected

  38. duece5 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:23 PM

By the way, Matt Flynn got released today. He’s the happiest man on earth.

  72. southpaw79 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:42 PM

The good news for Rodgers, they just upgrading him to Grill Class on the bench.

  73. stampnhawk says: Nov 4, 2013 9:42 PM

But but but…Seneca Wallace can run. Right?

Only a matter of time until they bring out the grainy video from Iowa that Seahawk fans had to see every game when Hasslebeck was hurt a bunch of years back.

And then, on his way out the door, Holmgren said Wallce would be an NFL starter somewhere very soon.

    Enjoy Packer fans.

  74. taintedsaints2009 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:43 PM

I really like Aaron Rodgers. Seems like a cool dude. Hope he is ok, otherwise, we Vikings fans welcome packer fans to join us in a season of misery.

Of course the only way the bears beat the packers is if they take out Rodgers. The bears and lions are such wannabees. They never ever beat the packers. The Vikings will atleast beat the packers once in a while.

  75. purplengold says: Nov 4, 2013 9:44 PM

  76. mhall85 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:44 PM

Shoot, Josh Freeman should’ve waited, gone to the Packers, been Rodgers’ backup… oh, what might have been.

  77. conormacleod says: Nov 4, 2013 9:45 PM

I wouldn’t be so happy about it, but I can’t think of a second way for Packer fans to shut up.

  78. steelersaregodsteam says: Nov 4, 2013 9:46 PM

Look, the Steelers might have struggled a bit this year. Guess what? In the end, you are still our inferiors. No one else can say they have six rings. No one.

That must be a depressing wake up call to some. Even more depressing for those have yet to even win a Super Bowl (and we laugh extensively at you).

Now here we go. This Sunday continues the run we spoke of: 10-2. We will win 8 straight, make the playoffs, and run through the competition for the most glorious world title yet.

Meanwhile, there you are, in all your lowliness.

  79. hawkforlife says: Nov 4, 2013 9:46 PM

No fan of either team but Seneca Wallace just did what every Seahawk fan saw way too much of. Interception on slants. Interception on critical plays.

  80. norwegianwud says: Nov 4, 2013 9:47 PM

Sucks to see anybody get hurt. I hate to see people pile on when it’s one of the best players in the game. This is coming from a Vikes fan. Hate it if you want. Truth is Rodgers, AD, Brees, Brady, etc. are all the reason we love to watch. I love my team whether good or bad and respect all of our opponents.
If you hate, you will certainly bring it back to your house in spades!!
    Karma…

  82. thejuddstir says: Nov 4, 2013 9:49 PM

In the past whenever there was a packer injury, packer fans would say “next man up”, haven’t heard or seen that post yet with Rodger’s injury. If Rodgers injury is serious, Packer fans will find out real fast that it’s not as simple as next man up when you don’t have a QB like Rodgers, Manning, Brees or Brady.
