With Manuel back, Bills release Matt Flynn

You knew there was another shoe to fall when Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel was cleared to return earlier today.

That shoe was actually a boot, that sent Matt Flynn right off his second team since the start of the regular season.

The Bills announced they were releasing Flynn to sign fullback Evan Rodriguez. Flynn was there three weeks, and didn’t play a game

It hasn’t been that long since Flynn was cashing a big check to lose a job in Seattle, then getting more money to go to Oakland and lose a job. He might have been on the minimum with the Bills for his short stint, but he keeps finding a way to get paid.

I don’t get why Jeff Tuel is still on the roster and they cut guys like Matt Flynn.

$20 says Flynn will be a Jet soon, and be cut on 11/18

Wow, how far can you fall in such a short time. He lost out to an undrafted rookie this time.

He should’ve seen this coming when he signed with the Bills.

Hi Matt welcome to Buffalo. OH, here’s is some money, you do know your only a back up now.

Oh Matt, were letting you go but you get to keep that money.

No, there are a lot more players who’s egos don’t match there teams win/loss record.

  12. jimmysee says: Nov 4, 2013 1:37 PM

… or he might end up in Minnesota, where ex-Packers go to die.

    Forget in like Flynn…

We’re going to have to start saying..

    “Out like Flynn”

  14. nyjetsfan08 says: Nov 4, 2013 1:57 PM

This is the same guy who had 6 TDs on one game while a Packer. Let’s calm down on the 7 TDs by Foles.

My understanding is that there are at least III of them.

Mr Flynn? Ziggy Wilf is on line one for you.

Short stint in Minnesota. Then he gets cut and goes to Philly to back up Napleon Dynamite.

Just inform him that the Vikings are holding a rejected-QBs symposium

    There’s only one Robert Griffin.

And Flynn may be starting for him when he gets hurt again.

I never saw any of the Raiders games with Flynn, but, man, Flynn with the Packers was a death machine. This is coming from a Bears fan, mind you. Flynn holds QB records for the Packers: beating out Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn and Bart Starr. Flynn put up jaw-dropping numbers when he filled in for Rodgers.

OK, so Matt Flynn the week-in/week-out starter has been a disaster. But you figure he’s gotta land as a back-up somewhere in 2014… right? With all the QB injuries? Especially with guys like Tyler Thigpen and the McCowns still cashing paychecks? This can’t be the end of Matt Flynn… just the end of Matt Flynn as a starter.

Actually as a 7th round draft pick for Green Bay he didn’t see a pay day until he signed with Seattle. He was traded to Oakland and under that contract from Seattle. He was then cut and got veteran minimum contract.

So three contracts were signed by Matt Flynn

    7th round contract Packers

FA contract (PAYDAY) Seattle 9M Guaranteed

Buffalo Vet min contract for 3-4 weeks

The good news is his visa card probably won’t get turned down for a few years as Rotoworld has the total payout from OAK/SEA at 14.5M.

But I wouldn’t say he bamboozled anyone

No, there’s lots of fragile QBs that can’t make it through a full season…

I know, nice work when you can get it !

And if he’s as smart as he seems he has a very nice but modest house that is entirely paid for, a couple of very nice cars, made sure his parents were all set and has buckets and buckets of money left over so he never has to work another day in his life if he doesn’t want to.

I love the amount of crap that Jeff Tuel is getting. Yesterday he had more yards as a QB than the ENTIRE Chiefs offense combined. Jeff Teul moved the ball better than Alex Smith, Jammal Charles and Dwayne Bowe could. And he did it against the #5 defense in the NFL. Did he make a mistake? Damn right he did. But lets remember that this is a rookie UDFA. Mistakes are going to happen. Personally I want him in Buffalo long term after what I just saw

  24. maxkingpin says: Nov 4, 2013 6:34 PM

Life is good if you are Matt Flynn.
If he invested $7M of his money, and gets a modest 5% return he stands to make $350,000/year for the rest of his life.

  25. seabreezes51 says: Nov 4, 2013 9:40 PM

    Back to the Pack tonight…..

  26. chawk12thman says: Nov 4, 2013 11:16 PM

He will be in GB in the AM for physical and to sign as the back up. Had his chance for his own gig and it didn’t work out……..

  27. swchiefsfanatic says: Nov 5, 2013 12:42 AM

The pack may sure be a callin now. Already knows the offense check. Extreamly affordable check. Available right now check. Why not?

  28. jpaq68 says: Nov 5, 2013 11:26 AM

Sounds like the standard operating procedure at One Bills Place. The Bills are adept of giving large sums of Old Man Wilson’s money away to players who play very little or don’t play at all.
