Cierre Wood finds work on Patriots practice squad

Last week, running back Cierre Wood was getting consideration from other teams in the form of tryouts but he wasn’t able to land himself a job.

That’s changed this week. Wood, who was cut by the Texans along with linebackers Sam Montgomery and Willie Jefferson for violating team rules, has signed on to join the Patriots practice squad.

When the three players were released, there were allegations that they were caught smoking marijuana. The players have denied those allegations and Wood reportedly notified teams that he passed a drug test taken in coordination with the NFLPA on the day he was released.

Wood made the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame and ran three times for nine yards before getting his walking papers. The Patriots have Stevan Ridley, Brandon Bolden, LeGarrette Blount and Leon Washington on the active roster at running back with Shane Vereen nearing a return from the wrist injury that sent him for a temporary stay on injured reserve.

Leon Washington has been a waste of a roster spot all season, give the kid a shot.

You can’t have enough running backs. They drop like flies.

You’d never know Leon Washington was still on this team…I’d rather cut him loose and see what Woods has instead of taking up a roster spot with someone who doesn’t see the field

Texans took George Winn from Pats practice squad… Bill is just being Bill. I agree, Washington didn’t do anything for our team for weeks… and when he did play he got hurt again. Laquan Williams will be taking over for returns

Matt Walsh was a liar and was proved to be so. His idiot media mouth, John Thomase, was allowed to retain his job after a full front page “I’m sorry” to the Pats and their fans. The “turd” is anyone who allows lies to linger in their pea sized brain for use as comment. Walsh called himself a golf-pro, yeah right. It was his job to park cars and haul clubs to the tee.
