Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Monday that he feels defensive end DeMarcus Ware is ready to return after missing the last three games with a quad injury.

On Wednesday, Ware took a step toward making his owner’s prediction come true. Ware was able to practice with the rest of the Cowboys as they started the week of preparations for the Saints. Nick Eatman of the Cowboys website reports that Ware will likely be listed as limited, but his return to practice at any level of participation is a good sign for his chances of playing.

Miles Austin’s chances of playing don’t look as good. He was out of practice again and it continues to look like the Cowboys will take a very cautious approach to bringing him back from his latest bout of hamstring trouble. Dez Bryant joined Austin on the list of wide receivers sitting out of practice because of tightness in his back. Bryant’s status for Sunday shouldn’t be at risk if he practices the rest of the week, but it’s a situation worth keeping an eye on in Dallas.

The Cowboys also filled the roster spot opened up by defensive tackle Marvin Austin’s departure. They signed defensive tackle Everett Dawkins off of the Vikings’ practice squad.
