Harbaugh says Aldon Smith’s situation is being taken day by day

Now that linebacker Aldon Smith has returned to the 49ers, the question is when Smith will return to the field.

The answer from both the player and the team is that it’s all being taken one day at a time.

On Tuesday, Smith said, “I’m just taking it one day at a time.”  On Wednesday, coach Jim Harbaugh specifically was asked whether Smith will play Sunday against the 5-3 Panthers.

“This is a thing that is being taken day by day,” Harbaugh said.

Via Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Smith is participating in Wednesday’s full-pads practice.  Which means that, at least for this day, he’s on track to play.

The 49ers have won five straight games without Smith, who has 38 sacks in 35 career regular-season games.

I suggest the niners pick up Incognito off of waivers to straighten him out.

A player, a coach and an organization with no moral integrity.

Smith will be back on the field next game.

Way to set an example San Fran !

    Aldon can’t speak for himself.

You know what can speak for itself? Our trophy case.

It is funny to think that this is his 3rd NFL season. He is just as young as our “young guys” that have filled in over the last 5 weeks.

Corey Lemonier, et. al have done a phenomenal job, but Aldon is a freak.

This finally healthy Niners team is gonna devastate the Redskins on MNF in a couple weeks.

There wasn’t a question of if he would play Sunday, its been how much he would play.

I doubt he’s in game shape to play the whole game or the majority of the snaps. He been away from football for 5-6 weeks now? I don’t think rehab has a gym so he could work out.

He would probably be rotated in, while Lemonier gets the start.

You can never have too many pass rushers. Looking forward to not only Aldon’s return but Tank Carradine’s debut as well as the schedule gets tougher over the next five weeks.

    They’re 5-0 without him.

Vick loses 2 years. Johnny Jolly gets suspended for 3 years for 2 felonies while Smith comes back in 2013? What are the standards for conduct?

That will be good advice for Aldon dealing with prison life too. Take it day by day, Al.

Like Harbaugh’s career, day by day…

He effectively was away from the team for nearly 7 weeks including 5 games. I feel that is more than adequate punishment.

he’s gonna play. should be a good game

The NFL is easy on the players who abuse the privilege to play. One time offense, could be forgiven, but he still faces weapons charges with an assault rifle. Time to stop and suspend these guys for a year minimum and a maximum of life.
