Jay Cutler returns to the practice field for Bears

Jay Cutler, Josh McCown AP

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler took a step toward a quick comeback, by stepping onto the practice field Thursday.

According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com, Cutler was back after a two-and-a-half week absence since tearing a groin muscle Oct. 20 against the Redskins.

He missed last week’s win at Green Bay, but if he gets through today and tomorrow, they’ve said he’ll start Sunday against the Lions.

Cutler was slow-playing things earlier this week, hedging on questions of whether he could return so soon. We’ll see how realistic it is after he gets through the practice, or whether Josh McCown gets a chance to build on Monday’s impressive outing against the Packers.

If he’s fully healed, fine, but no need to rush him.

Good to see him back, a labia tear is nothing to joke about…

It’s Niether Cutler or McCown’s job to stop Reggie Bush. Defense has to get stingier. Go Bears!

He stepped gingerly onto the practice field.

    Lions Bears game huh?

Its like watching two mice fight over a piece of cheese right in the middle of the kitchen floor cause the family had to take the cat to the vet.

    Godspeed, Jay. BEAR DOWN!

This all stems back from the Knee injury he had years back in the playoffs, trying to have that tough man mentality.

And the packers are the piece of cheese. I’m good with that analogy.

    Contract year….he’s gonna play.

Just to P.O. Rodgers and the Packer fans.

Bad idea for him to come back this week. Every week is tough enough on any Bears QB but add one of the dirtiest teams (Detroit) into the mix and it gets worse

Bring it on son, Suh wants to give you a hug

Congrats Bear fans on beating our practice squad! You act like you’ve never beaten us before. Hope Suh breaks something on Cutler and one of the Lion db’s horsecollar tackles one of your big receivers (like happened to Rodgers)and takes out their ACL.

Sounds like a case of sour grapes there packerbadger. Worried that the Packers have suddenly become insignificant?
