Report: Giants to place David Wilson on injured reserve

Giants running back David Wilson failed to get the green light to resume his 2013 season earlier this week and it looks like that medical decision will keep him stuck at the same red light for the rest of the year.

Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Giants will place Wilson on injured reserve on Thursday afternoon to make room on the roster for Andre Brown’s return from injured reserve. Wilson injured his neck a month ago and there have been some dire reports about his long-term outlook, although word earlier this week was that he had made some progress over the last few weeks.

The Giants have until 4 p.m. ET to add Brown to the active roster and Orr reports that they’ll take all of that time in order to make sure nothing happens at practice on Thursday to force them to move in a different direction.

If Wilson’s season is over, it will end with 146 yards on 44 carries and very little in the way of confirmation that Wilson can be the team’s feature back moving forward. His issues with fumbling remained in the picture and the Giants were quick to look elsewhere in the running game even before Wilson got hurt.

They didn’t even get the best available Wilson with that pick.

I knew this was coming, and at 21 years of age, I feel very bad for David Wilson, a heriated disc in his neck, and spinal stenious [sp} both serious issues.
I have no idea if Wilson will be back in 2014, but this kid is “good kid” great personality, positive attiude, and he could have been a real plus on the team.
Life changes fast, so i hope he stays “close to his team mates, the giants treat him well, and more important he gets better, period!

    Wilson has shown two things:

    1. Why you don’t draft a running back in the first round. Trent Richardson is helping prove this also. So is Mark Ingram.

    2. Why you don’t draft a Virginia Tech running back. Great in college, nothing in the NFL. Ken Oxendine, Shyrone Stith, Lee Suggs, Kevin Jones, Brandon Ore, Darren Evans, Ryan Williams. Add Wilson to the list.

A RB going into his third year with no production… that’s not a positive indicator.
